2-5 nl game in Lawrenceburg Indiana which I am a reg in, usually have extensive history with 4+ players at the table. V1 in the straddle is a young reg, usually very strong player who plays 12+ hr sessions, definitely plays as means of income. V2 on the button I have no history with was a 30 something. I'd been at the table an hour or so had about 900 in front, v1 has 700, v2 has 800.
V1 straddles to 10, hero in cutoff limps with J9 off, button calls, sb calls, bb calls, straddle raises to 50, hero calls, v2 calls, sb folds, bb folds.
*knowing v1 pretty well I see him raise his straddle with a wide range including suited connectors, med-big pairs. I called expecting at least one more caller. I wasn't sure what v2 was limp calling with.
Flop: Ah 7h 8c, v1 leads for 75, hero calls, button calls.
His bet of 75 otf tells me very little. Ive seen him bet a third to a Half of the pot with top set before and he showed, I thought he was trying to portray strenghth but I was convinced I could still take this one away from him. I didn't want to get into a raising war as this kid can be pretty aggressive. Again I didn't know what to make of v2's call on the button.
Turn: 5d
V1 checks, hero bets 150, v2 folds, v1 tanks for a minute and calls.
I know this isn't an optimal line as I have J high but I picked up outs and the pot is worth stabbing at when checked to me in my opinion. If v1 was strong I thought he would fire the turn again. I thought his check was him giving up but apparently not bc he called. Very happy v2 ducked out as I was unsure what his holdings were. At this point I put v1 on a small/medium pair draw type combo.
River: 7c
V1 checks, hero??? What do you guys think? Is this a setup from the jump from V1? If you fire the river than how much? What does v1 have and can I get him off it?
