2/5 NL - river spot in straddled pot

V1 - loose, gambly old man. Straddles about 1/2 the hands dealt to him. Bluff broken draws, usually reps nothing. Makes big bets when bluffing. Got called down by another player with As4s on a A9756 board after putting out a big river bet and mucked.
V2 - I originally pegged him as a found fish who saw poker on tv and wanted to be in every pot. He raised and called raises pre a lot from all positions and folded to a ton of cbets, mine included. However, as we played more he seemed to be a bit more of a semi-competant lag.
hero has Kh Qh in MP.
Effective stacks - $500
V1 button straddles to $10, sb calls (huge station), hero raises to $40, v2 calls as expected, straddle calls, sb calls.
Flop: $160, 4 players.
Kc Ah 5s
Sb checks, hero checks (I have been cbetting a lot and its been working, but I feel an A is very possibly held by 1 or more villains), V2 checks, button checks.
At this point now, I feel I have the best hand. Sb would def donk if he hit his A, lag would as well, and there's little reason for the button to not bet his A as he is very loose and it would just look like he was trying to take down an unclaimed pot anyway.
Turn: $160, 4 players.
8h
Sb checks, hero bets $80, v2 folds, V1 calls, sb folds.
River: $320, HU.
7c
Hero checks (?opinions?) with the intent of calling a reasonable bet. V1 shoves for 300ish effective.
Hero tanks.
I find it hard to believe he has an A here. ATC are basically his straddle defending range, so a ragged 2 pair is definitely a possibility, but given previous hands witnessed involving villain 1, he is capable of river bluffing when checked to or when he misses his draw.
Hero....?

im not sure if this is the best line here but
i wouldnt check the river i would bet like 100-1400 n folding to any raise, just so you can get a hand like A5 to fold i think c/c allows a hand like that to check behind or when checked to put in a bad spot (obv what happened)
I think as played it looks like u have a weak A or a strong K and you hand is face up so the villian is making a great play, i guess he could have a bad A and not donk bet but doesnt seem like a great spot even though he big bet bluff as previously stated
so after all that im still folding

bet small on the river (120ish ) (since youve already decided to call a river bet from villain) and fold to a raise

grunch
This was a pretty easy b/f of $120 for value on the river. Once you check to this villain i think you need to call since he is very capable and been caught bluffing with air before. Checking was a big mistake imo.
