5 handed stacks are 150 bb deep. Hero has picked up aggression level since getting short handed. Villain 1 is a middle aged asian and has been at table for roughly 15 minutes. No reads, I've raised his cbet on the flop once before and he insta mucked. Hand goes as follows:

Utg limps, V1 raises to 35, folds to hero on button with Jc8c, folds to limper who calls.

Flop: Qc 7d 2c

Limper checks, V1 bets 70, hero???

I raised here but my question is how much should I raise it to. I have roughly 700 to start the hand. V1 has me covered.

Was 35 a typical raise size in this game? In a vacuum, I would say it is more indicative of a big hand at a 2-5 game in EP. If so, then I think I'd call in position otf. U can still rep a Q if he checks to you ott. U don't really rep much by raising on this flop besides a set as 2pr is unlikely.

As played, I like floating the flop. Only possible read suggests that V1 is generally straightforward and will c/f many turns.

If you want to raise, the pot is $250 and you have about $600 back, so $175 more seems about right. Leaves you $425 in a pot of $600 if V1 calls. If he 3-bet pushes, you can comfortably fold.

FWIW, preflop, I like folding or 3-betting.

If I call and the club comes then he is probably check folding. If we continue past the flop I want max value. I raise because there is fold equity and i can still make my hand.

I raised to 230, he called.

Turn: 2c, he checked. I shoved 370 and he called.

River 2s

I think he had an overpair with a club but why would he simply flat call the flop. Maybe he put me on a bluff and wanted to give me an opportunity to bluff the turn as well, which I happily obliged.
