turn min raises generally represent stupidity.

3 bet pre and we only lose 70-75 unless he flats KK. In this case we c/bet and should be done after he calls, raises. I don't mind the flat pre either. I'm c/calling this flop. If he cbets into 4 he should have a solid hand but with so many draws out there I might peel one. If he continues to bet OTT I'm a believer unless this guy is agro and double barreling draws

I'm really confused why anyone is suggesting calling the turn raise here and then c/f river when we improve. If we think we are good OTT and a card comes that improves us but doesn't complete any other flush or straight draws why aren't we shoving for value? Obv I'm never calling the turn. His line is super strong even tho his betsizing is ******ed. I'm c/f turn most of the time

Because OP has said that his turn read is that V has a set or straight, so this card doesn't improve us to beat any of those hands. We called turn to try to hit a diamond and we didn't.

This thread and this post in particular are a shining example of how a nit makes money even though we all know we're not supposed to pay off. As soon as we "improve" our absolute hand strength, we forget about the read and we forget that we cannot be good against this player.

(Not saying this V is a nit--just saying that this post shows the logic that leads people to give nits their money.)

I don't like a 3 bet pre. I think I raise this flop to 120ish

Hero is SB with AQ.

Preflop(7 handed): UTG folds, EP limps, MP folds, CO limps, Button raises to $20, Hero calls, BB folds, EP calls, CO calls.

Flop(4 players/$85-$7=$78): KQ7
Check, check, check, Button bets $45, Hero calls, fold, fold.

Turn(heads up/$168): 9
Hero bets $100, Button raises to $200, Hero calls.

River(heads up/$568): Q
Heinous card. You think Hero is ever good here?
Why did you lead the turn? That seems like the worst option imo.

Very well put as usual. The main mistakes my opponent makes: playing too many speculative hands oop, bet sizing and paying off. And I make the mistake in this hand of paying him off. In the game of trading mistakes I lost a little ground vs. this player.

Where I play there is a small 2/5 player pool. Small enough that I usually know 4-5 of the players in the game well. This hand still smarts because I had a solid read ott even though it is so very narrow/small.

On to the next session!

Before you feel too bad, TripleH--I would have gone broke in this hand because I would have got it all in on the flop with a lead/3bet. (Unless he min-raised me on the flop, in which case I might have realized I was drawing to a diamond, like you did on the turn.) You lost less than I (probably) would have.
