1/3 capped game, 9 handed.

Hero- Young looking guy. Tight aggressive image, has won several smaller pots without showdown. Largest pot I won at the table was middle set, in a straddled pot where I took a bet/bet/bet line and got paid off (by a lower set). Has both villains covered.

V1-Loose passive, playing super wide. Will bet out with any piece, if checked to. I think that he thinks I'm tighter than I am. Has limp/called several of my LP raises and given up on the flop. My plan against this villain is to keep him in the pots a long as possible, and let him do the betting. 20-25bb stack.

V2-Older guy, tight and a shortstacker. I've played with him before, and he seems to always buy in for the min. Seems to have SOME grasp of SS strat, but I have seen him overplay TP. Makes abnormally large opens compared to the table. I'd 3 bet him the previous hand when he opened in the SB. He's to my immediate right. 30-35bb stack.

Now OTTH.

V1 limps MP
V2 limps BTN
Hero has 88 in the SB, completes
BB checks his option.

Flop ($12): 89J

This flop I think really smacks V1s range. V2 is also pretty wide (but not strong), since he just limped on the button. This obviously isn't the best board for bottom set, but I do think V1 may put some money into the pot with any piece.

Hero:checks
BB:checks
V1:checks
V2: Bets 15.

Hero calls, BB and V1 fold.

Turn ($42,-5): 2
Hero: checks
V2: bets 45
Hero: ???

Now V2 I think is wide, but didn't have a premium holding since he didn't raise over just 1 limper. I don't think he has JJ or 99 here. There's more 10x combos in his range than Jx, but when he overbet 2 steets I felt like this was more for protection than value. He bombed the turn for a significant portion of his stack (somewhere around 1/3-1/2). He could have bet smaller and had a PSB by the river.

Just jam pre

As played jam flop

As played jam turn

Don't play capped 1/3 if you wanna make money. Assuming it's raked

I'm just curious why you didn't raise preflop?

Preflop is fine. Against one of the short stacks I would be willing to raise but against two your hand isn't quite good enough. You will mostly either take the pot down preflop or you are coin flipping/behind. Plus some small risk of BB showing up with a hand.

You should lead this flop. This is a very dangerous flop and you have a couple of short stack villains that you are not folding against. You want to get the one pair+draw hands committed. Once V2 bets flatting calling to see what V1 and BB want to do is OK. Getting multiple fish with weak hands involved is OK with short stacks and only a few bad cards.

As played check/jam turn is fine agqainst a villain that over plays top pair. Villain either has a hand he is going with or he is going to give up on the river without two pair+. Might as well put him all in then.

Mostly to keep the BB and V2 in. BB wasn't raising too much OOP, so I thought I'd get to see the flop for cheap (BB was also short).

V2 has also limp/shoved before (which is why I think he had some clue about SSing).

88 in SB is just OK to complete. Raising might be better here considering stack sizes though but still not so necessary.

I think pre is fine, I feel like you have to be more aggressive on the flop pretty sure I'd bet hoping someone has J10 or 2 pair, but as played definitely raise after checking the flop and shove on the turn, if they flopped a straight so be it.
