1/2NL ($40-60), the Bike. Hero ($60) in BB with 77 CO ($40) raises to $8. Hero calls. UTG+1 ($40) calls.

Flop ($25) is 7AK. All check.

Turn is 7. I figure anybody with an A, K, or flush draw would have bet by now. I bet $8, all fold. UTG+1 says I should have checked since he had J10 and might have hit his gutshot. I figured it was time to get some money in the pot and if I didn't get any action there was probably none to be had. Big mistake? Little mistake?

Shove or fold pre, depending on COs opening frequency. You can't play this hand profitably OOP in raised pots.

As played I just shove flop, it is not like we expect them to have hardly any bluffing range or any pair or draw.

Preflop: The ultra short stacks combined with what is likely an enormous rake structure make this a very close decision, but I'd probably call also, especially if there were a couple limpers before the raise.

Flop: Checking is smart.

Turn: I think checking again is best, but your small bet is also a very good option that I think is only slightly worse than checking. You ran into a fairly common situation with quads: winning a small pot because the good cards are all in your hand.

Also, don't post the results in OP.

Just my opinion...

this is definitely not one of those situations. 15/ship river sounds good to me, you'll get looked up on the turn by plenty of crap that checked the flop. Anything that calls 8 will call 15 and you want to set up a river all in

check back turn, you want to pot-control in case he rivers a royal flush or better quads

I think shipping it in on the flop might not be terrible. with 20BB eff. stacks there isn't much room for creativity. Anyone with a decent draw or ace will call, might get a call from a king as well. Since the 7 OTT doesn't improve any hand that wouldn't stay in on the flop - I think betting the turn doesn't do much good.

This is just a case that nobody else had a hand. Nothing you can do.

i once turned quads, EP donks into me after flop was checked around, i tank then minraise it back and he folded. said he had nothing and tried to buy it. maybe i should have checked? but im sure if he had anything, there was a K on board he would ahve called.

I have never got quads before. Shove flop turn over your cards when everyone folds.

I posted this in the uNL in a different thread, but it's pretty much always true: People will bet 3-streets with 99 on a 966 flop but check 3 streets with 66 on the the same flop. It's like there's some switch that goes off in peoples heads that doesn't let them bet with quads. Just bet your quads. I'd probably bet $15 OTF to get value from diamonds and set up a river shove that's more "callable." You will rarely get value from quads but you definitely can't get any by checking all the time. Just play it the same as you would any other set or other nut hand. It's the nuts, so focus on getting someone elses stack into the middle of the table, not on squeezing a bet out of them.

Shoving pre. Can't see how calling $8 with a $60 stack is profitable.
