1/2, standard calldown w/ two pair? 1/2, standard calldown w/ two pair?

Reads: Villain seems loose passive, but I've only been playing w/ him for like 45 minutes. He's check/called down quite a lot and lost.

I have $100, villain has $200.

Preflop, I raise in MP to $7 w/ A7, only villain in the SB calls. Flop comes A74. Villain check calls a $8 bet. Turn is Q, villain checks, I bet $18, he raises to $40, hero?

Note how draw-less the board is. This means villain can't be semibluffing (unless he has an unlikely 56), so pushes his range more towards made hands, but at the same time, if I continue in the hand, it may not be necessary to push all in here.

Best line now?

It scares me to death when passives raise.

He can beat a pair of aces. But so can you. This is a pretty thin calldown.

I probably do, but I'm not saying that's good. You're good <50% here but I don't have a handle on where it falls from 0-50.

A bit more info on villain. When I said loose preflop, I mean like playing 25% of hands loose, not playing 60% of hands loose. I don't think villain would call w/ 74o or Q7o preflop.

Would he get sneaky (ie call preflop) with QQ or AA?

Well, if we take out QQ, Q7o and Q4o and 74o...

You're right about at 50% equity so folding is still bad.

Wow, pretty weak tight to fold two pair on a 50bb stack. If he can ever take this line with AK or A4 you can't fold. And I am sure he has both of those hands in his range, and so we have to discount AA/77, so his only two legit sets are 44, and QQ. So y Also it seems your betsizing is bad if you are trying to get your entire stack in 8-18-68ish?
