Villain 1: Weak/Tight player who hasn't done anything too out of line other than probably overfolding to aggression.
Villain 2: Loose/passive weak player.

Hero: Maybe viewed a little aggressive but so far has shown down good hands.

$1/2 NL (9 handed)
V1 UTG ($200)
V2 BB ($200)
BTN Hero ($500)

Hero is dealt 3c3s

V1 opens 12 Hero calls, V2 calls.

Flop ($36) Ac3h8d
V2 checks, V1 checks, Hero Checks

(comments/questions?)

Turn ($36) Qd V2 bets 30 V1 Jams Hero?

Bet flop. As played if I am on my A game I can probably fold but can’t fault a call. Looks a lot like AA or QQ, probably QQ.

Bet flop, call turn but say "**** it, let's gamble" before calling so V2 thinks you have a draw and calls as well.

Bottom set is a hand you should almost always be betting. You can trap middle set on occasion (and top set often). But bottom set is the one you want to bet, because you’re not blocking their continuing range—there’s nothing stoping them from having top pair here (like there is when you have top set).

As played, obviously just call and pray V2 over-calls. You want to play for stacks here.

V1 "weak tight player" just opened UTG, then jams 3x pot on a board with an A and a Q that just got somewhat coordinated. I guess he could have AQ, but I see AA/QQ more likely.
I know we should never fold a set, but I think you can make an exploitative fold against V as described.

I hope opponent had QQ, because then at least you would learn never to check back in this situation again. That's the key play here, not the turn.

As for the turn, it's a basic pot odds question depending on whether you think BB will come along too. It's fairly obviously AA, QQ or AQ, I suppose you might see a hand like T9dd or AKdd once in a while.

Given stack sizes of 200 effective and a $12 bet, you don’t really have the implied odds to call with such a weak pair. You flop a set only 12 percent of the time, and there’s no guarantee you’ll get stacks in or even one street of value. I could get behind the call if stacks were 300+.

AP, bet the flop. Flopping bottom set with an A on the board is an ideal scenario because Vs have many Ax in their range.

When a tight player jams, it’s often bad news, but he has plenty of Qx in his range to justify the call. With an SPR of around 3, players spew here all the time.

Never folding a set here. Always betting bottom set on the flop. Villain could just have AdXd, AQ. I have seen guys bet 70% of their stack for 5x pot with one pair, AK just because there was a flush draw on the flop. They lost to a set.

If we lose, it's a cooler.
