Hero (Bu, ~350) - TAG, 50 y.o. wm, been playing 4-5 hours since table opened. Largely been card-dead, won a few big pots with top sets, lost decent pot with top two in three-way hand, with V1 leading action, and a short stack turning broadway at the same time I turned top two. Also lost with suited connectors rivering flush vs nut flush.

V1 (HJ, ~600) - 28 y.o. wm, easily the most active player at table. Opens many pots for $5-7, occasionally $10. Plays very well post-flop. Earlier won seven straight hands before the hand described above, where he bet $35 on turn, I called with top two, shortie shoved for an additional $12, and V folded! (later said he had 7-2 & figured no need to throw away the $12.

V2 (MP, 69) - 20s, Asian male. Been at the table maybe 2-3 orbits, no significant pots, bought in for $100. No reads.

Two limpers including V2, then V1 raises to 7. CO folds, action on Hero with K8dd. I've been looking for opportunities to play hands with hidden potential against V1, so I call the 7. Three others call, including V2. Five players to flop.

Flop (~38): QdJdTc

Action checks to V1, who leads for 12 (somewhat consistent with his active, small-ball approach that's been working for him). Hero?

Raise to about $40. Pretty standard with how deep we are. Perfect spot to play a big pot IP.

grunch: raise. a call is not out of the question with the odds he's given you and players left to act. But assuming we're concerned with V1 and he's good post flop I don't think I'd want him in control or given an opportunity to blow us off a busted draw without giving him a chance to fold first.

Raise and play a larger pot IP with a strong hand

I think raising makes this hand easier to play. If we're called, then many times we get to dictate whether or not a river comes off for free. Also, if we make our hand then we don't appear to simply "wake up" on the card that probably frightens the villain a little bit already.

Simple version: Raise. If he wants to win this pot with one pair than he's going to have to earn it.

i would three bet this player preflop to something like $25. you will take it down pre a good portion of the time, and if he calls, you have position and a hand versus a wide, weak-looking CO raise.

as played, i'd make it $35 or $40 OTF.

After considering either a call or a raise (was considering making it 40, so this seems about the right bet-size), I decide to call. Although V1 has folded to raises, he's continued to barrel when only called, and I've been waiting for a situation like this to play against him. After I call, two more players call, and then V2 goes all-in for 50 on top. V1 folds, and action is back on Hero. Pot is ~138, two players behind, 50 to call.

Hero?

I think he only showed down either one or two of them, with it/them being good opening cards and a good made hand.
