1/2 Live
Villian is a young skinny guy with shaggy hair, he's fairly tight, not super aggressive preflop, but not super passive either. From the 2 hours I played on the table so far, he seems to think through hands and is clearly better than most of the 1/2 players.
Effective Stack is about $250.
Hero is young 20s asian, played very tight so far, hasn't showed a whole lot of aggression at this point.
Hero is on BTN with A8o. Slow day, table was down to just 5 people. One limp to hero, raise to 10. Villian in BB calls, limper folds.
Flop: 753r (one diamond)
Villian checks, hero checks. I know it's almost always correct to cbet heads up, but I thought he was very likely to float me on this board given how tight he was playing and because he wasn't a guy playing thinking just about his own cards.
Turn: 2
Villian leads out for $12 into a pot of about $23. Hero calls. I didn't think there was a big part of his range that really connects on this board and that maybe he was trying to steal the pot since it checked around on the flop.
River: 3
Villian leads out for $20. Hero raises to $50. Here, I honestly didn't think much about his hand, but I thought I could rep backdoor flush here. If it was the A
8
in my hand, I would have probably played it the same exact way. Villian thinks for a bit, makes a "what the hell?" kind of gesture, the line didn't make sense to him, I guess, and eventually calls.
What do you guys think of this bluff? Did my line make no sense? I thought it really looked like a backdoor flush draw. I didn't rep anything else because there really are no 3s in my range, maybe it looks it could be a wheel also. What are your thoughts on the line and whether it was a decent spot to bluff?
