Villain has been at the table for less than 30 minutes; he is mid to late 20s and seems to want to gamble. The following occurred several hands earlier and provides some context.

Villain has around £1000, Hero has £250

UTG Straddle £4
V UTG+1 Double Straddle £8
MP raise £22
H CO raise £75 with JJ
V and MP call

Flop: rags

V and MP check, H goes All in, MP fold, V call. Jacks Hold (V mucks).

Now; here is the hand in question:

V and H both have around £600

H UTG raise £10 with AA
MP call
V BTN call

Flop: 7 8 T rainbow

H Bet £25
MP Fold
V Call

Turn Qo

H Bet £60
V raise £140
Hero?

Raise more preflop.

If you call there will be about 360 in the pot and 425 left in stacks.

Call with the plan of check/calling a bet of up to 170 into 360 on most rivers.

His range is something like:

J9s, TT, 88, 77, 87s, QTs, T9s, 98s, KJs, AJs, Q9s, 65s

Sometimes, he is going to slow down on the river with some of those hands.

tough spot
especially without playing w/ villain before

if villain is capable of c/r draws this way then yes obv check call / call river on a brick

but from my experience 9.5/10 players in 1/2 are not raising turn draws

these aren't competent 2/5 5/10 players

there aren't many draws that missed its a rainbow board

I don't get calling here and re asses river we know he's bombing it lol

people will say oh you cant fold here we are then exploitable.

villains at 1/2 aren't playing that way guys I say that all the time

as played fold turn there will be better spots and the raise pre I am on board with 10 is fine with no dead money in the middle

if you call here the only card you are praying for is an A or maybe a 7 I guess

I don't know how villain views your image...but lets say he sees you as a straight forward tight 1/2 players
assuming he is competent once u continue turn barrel and show strength why would he raise on a draw knowing he has no fold equity because 1/2 players aren't here to make big lay downs..imo he is going for value ( I could be wrong ) but I play 1/2 1/3 all the time I started crushing when I got out of these leveling wars with myself thinking I am play 5/10 competent players.

I might check the turn once called on this flop. Problem with DB is stacks are deep enough and board coordinated enough for V to move us off the hand with bluffs when we bet. Now even we call, we cant feel very comfy with calling the river no matter comes (even an Ace).

As long as you mix in check-raises on turns with strong value hands, we can check/call here and maintain a balanced strategy where V's won't be able to exploit our weaker, one pair hands on boards like this.

Baluga whale theorem....

Also wouldn't mind sometimes just check/call OTT.

This.

As played, call and evaluate against a player who calls all-in with worse than JJ on a rag flop (although I'd like to know the rags).
