SEPTEMBER BLIND DEFENDER (NC/LC) SEPTEMBER BLIND DEFENDER (NC/LC)

Bah.... I totally support your move. I think I've once read:
LHE is like masturbation, it's repetitive, boring, unsexy, and a chore. However, it gets the job done and there are no risks involved other than getting caught doing it.

NLHE is like getting a whore. It's extremely exciting and sexy. However, it's potentially very costly and might ruin your life.

frond: is the plan to specialize in NL or stud?

Yeah, NL attracts the sophomores all right.

People go to NL for excitement, as long as you consider folding a lot, hoping to get the nuts, and then hoping that a silly tourist will give you his whole stack. That one hand every 4 or 5 hours makes it all worth it.

---

Frond, I'll miss you. Hope you keep posting around here, even if you stop playing LHE.

Kinda weird in that my biggest LHE win to date is $1400(7 racks @ 8/16) but at 20/40 I have not won more than $1,300 at any session. That is with like 600 hours in. it is starting to screw with me and i want to still enjoy poker so I am ditching LHE. I wont be posting here any more but hope to still keep in touch with a lot of you great folks who I have met here. I have learned a ton here and hope I contributed something for the short time I was here.

Tom
Frond, at least come in and post some LC NL stuff.

Beth and I are heading to Key West for a long weekend. Woke up 4:45 to make a 6:30 flight to Atlanta, boarded with no problem and taxied out. Got to the runway and the pilot shut off the engines. That's right, powered the damn thing down right here on the tarmac. A few minutes later he announces that our departure has been delayed by Atlanta "flow control" and that we'll be leaving 45 minutes late.

We have a 40 minute layover. fml.

Fortunately made it to sunny Key West. Beth was quite distraught when airport security confiscated her hair care products 'cause I only allowed her to bring a modest sized carry-on and a pair of shorts to change into when we got here.

Today is her b-day and we're fixin' to go shopping to buy her wardrobe for this trip since I obviously didn't let her bring any other clothes. (This is her first "toothbrush trip.")

I've secured a driver, too. His name is Raymond and he's an independent contractor for Yellow Cab. (Limos are apparently scarce around the island.) He's my kind of guy- talks more **** than a Coonass and has some hilarious ancedotes about his former wives and ex-stepkids. I'm thinkin' this will make some pretty good TR fodder. No poker content, tho. Likely gonna post it in OOT.

Cool, I'm heading out to Bermuda in a few hours. It's suppose to be 78-79 and partly cloudy all weekend.
And ofc, no poker in Bermuda

Then PLO must be the trophy wife. She 's full of tricks that weren't around when you were her age. And playing AAxx hands is that Altoids blowjob thing. It seems pretty simple, but usually it just burns.

I was thinking about this. Thoughts?

Pretty sure I saw Gabe Thaler in the Bay 25/25. I know he's from the bay area, but I thought he lived in Vegas now.

Absolutely sure I saw a cute ditzy redhead with a very nice rack in the 1/2/2.

It looks like a filter that can used used in lieu of decanting.

In other news, Beth and I had a great dinner at A&B last night. It's right on one of the marinas in Key West. We stumbled upon our charter that I've secured for tomorrow's offshore fishing trip. I'm pretty excited about it too, since Beth will be wearing that new bathing suit she bought yesterday.

That purchase re-confirmed my theory of women's bathing suits: the price is inversely proportional to the amount of fabric used in the suit.

Hers was real expensive.

Friends who are knowledgable and enthuiastic about wine have one and use it. I've used it at their house, pouring their wine, and enjoyed the resulting beverage. Probably quality in, quality out and certainly my neanderthal pallatte. For the cost, I imagine it'd be hard to go wrong.

Couldn't you just take a straw and blow bubbles into your wine? Or is that frowned upon among polite company?
09-25-2010 , 02:31 PM
For those of us not in the know, what is that device?
09-25-2010 , 03:17 PM
It is a Vinturi. We have one. Having a bit out of the bottle and having a bit through the aerator, it is a noticeable difference. I've tried a friend's on whites, and it even makes a difference there.

My question was actually "should I go poor a glass of wine". We had margs instead, so no vinturi last night.

I could see you doing that. However you like your wine, that's the best way. Don't go in for fads, imo.

People say they never make royals. I have spoken to people who claim to have played for 25 years and never hit one. I think I have made at least 5, maybe more like 6-7.

Full Tilt Poker $2/$4 Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is CO with A K
UTG raises, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, 3 folds, UTG calls

Flop: (7.5 SB) T J 5 (2 players)

Turn: (5.75 BB) K (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG calls

River: (7.75 BB) Q (2 players)

Final Pot: 9.75 BB
UTG mucks J Q
Hero shows A K (a Royal Flush)
Hero wins 9.5 BB
(Rake: $1.00)

And quad aces. Perhaps I should have made expert slow play here.

i think you're better off checking, particularly because you seem to indicate that you're donking big MW flops much less now and with fewer non-SD hands.

Live players don't play that many hands in 25 years

I remember reading somewhere that the average is (assuming reasonable pf and postflop play) hitting a royal flush every X hands, but I can't remember X.

100k? 300k? Anyone read this as well or have any ideas or ways to calculate it?

I aren't never made one, except in an online freeroll in which I won absolutely nothing.

Never had one of those either, except in video poker.

I did get one of those, although I was too drunk to know it until the dealer and other players told me. Villain had thrown his entire $36 stack in with the ace-high flush.
