Can I get some line advice here? This is from a FT 5/T full ring game.

I open 99 UTG+1. MP 3 bets, BN caps, back to me.

I only have about 100 hands on each, neither has done anything weird yet. MP is 26/12/1.2 and BN is about the same with slightly lower PFR.

Call 2 more and hope for a set getting 11.5:2 immediately (less rake) (I am assuming MP calls 100%)? Or let it go here?

Assuming I call and do not hit the set, plan for:

overpair or paired small board like TT3

one Q/J/T overcard.

An A/K overcard.

You have no choice but to call. AJo you can fold. You can't fold anything suited. I don't think you can fold PP hands. Your hand makes a mint when you hit. Reads would be a big help. Stats would be useful.

You're checking every flop, no matter what.

You can call a single bet on a TT3 flop, even if that bet comes from the BTN and you risk a c/r from MP3. I think you fold if it comes back 3 bet to you.

You have relative position issues with any overcards. You don't want to get trapped for two bets while set mining for a potential 2nd best hand. If we had reads/stats on the villains, we could construct ranges and see how likely you are to have an overset.

The A and K overcards are worse from the POV of not being ahead, but better from the POV that someone can have TPTK, give action, and still lose to your set. This hand is a beast on a K-high board with action.

Hm... think I may need to do some stoving. I agree with pretty much everything Doug wrote, except some uncertainty on calling the cap with, say, QJs.

Also, as far as the boards where we flop an overpair go, I'm just trying to get to showdown as cheaply as possible, so c/c c/c c/c unless there are raises on any street, but I do wonder if showing this down is going to be bad -- is a 26/12 really firing 3 barrels with AK in a capped preflop pot?

can't fold pf. on safe boards, check and see. on scary boards, check and usually fold.
