Sorry to intrude on your thread but what kind of winrate is doable in the LA 20-40 games? 1BB/hr? 2? I've played NLHE for the good part of the last 5 years but limit before that for about 3 years, almost 90% online for both I'd say and my game wasn't nearly what it is now obviously when I played limit. I'm burned out on No Limit and no offense but like how much easier the decisions and grind is live for limit, though if and when internet poker comes back I can't imagine not running back to no limit. Any input is appreciated.

1 for the best, less for the rest, 2 is lol

check out our FAQ for some lhe info

lhe is different from nl - not easier or harder imo, so be careful with that assumption

welcome to the forum

I'm not trying to put down LHE, I just find that live and not at the computer Limit feels a lot better in terms of something I could do for 8 hours. I've been playing live since online poker died and made the switch last week just to see and have to say since then going back to NLHE sounds depressing. The live NLHE games are a joke up to 5-10 anywhere i've played, but it feels like such a grind live vs 8 tabling it online. Also, I didn't just boomswitch all week I actually started the first session off with a nice 2 rack loss and left the table feeling the same way I did at the end of the week when things majorly improved. I'm shocked based on how weak the games were you say 1, but I suppose as nutty as the games seemed variance must also be nutty in it.

My main reason for asking was because I do have the money for 20-40 and it is what I played before switching, but was considering playing the 8-16 for a few months to get comfy. I doubt i'll be doing that for 16/hr though. :P

Also, thanks for the welcome. :P

well yeah, agree in lhe you get to play more hands and there are more decisions also so it's probably more exciting and less boring than nl

the rake is also high in live poker, with LA being on the high end with all the jackpots

Just want everyone to know that I'm now fully integrated and synchronized with my iPad, iPhone and iMac using the iCloud.

Now iConfused.

I don't think you need a few months, but I would play a few weeks at a lower level just to get back into the flow of a limit game and remember the differences in it. Would rather make $16 mistakes than $40 mistakes.

My uncle raved about the iPad for a solid hour last night. It was the best sales pitch for one I have ever heard. I want one now.

Live 3/6: Last night I won two different pots, one of them fairly substantial, when my opponents folded to my call on the river. I’m not complaining, but I’m not used to seeing such things.

It may not be a coincidence that my win last night was one of the few that could be measured in racks (2+).

That's called a bluff...

Specimen #1: 4/8 player who just won a high hand and decided to spend it at 8/16.
Specimen #2: Floor guy who has lost 200 bets in a single session before.
Specimen #3: Spewbot reg who just paid four bets preflop with T3o.
Specimen #4: New guy who is in 5+ racks half an hour into the game.
Specimen #5: Another spewbot reg. He's not drinking, which might be a first.
Specimen #6: The biggest donator to ever walk through the doors. He's also straddled more often than anyone in the history of this game.

I have solved my surfing while playing addiction by buying the cheapest phone in the T-Mobile store and will transfer the sim card back and forth.

BTW: I stopped by Verizon. They want $90+/mo for full data, etc. I heard a player say that he's paying AT&T $140! Gasp! T-Mobile is $50 for the same service. So I didn't shop around but luck-boxed into the best plan apparently.

Imagining Leo Doc as the Borg is entertaining.

In other news I am quite pleased with the outcome of the professional football games for the two Bay Area teams.

I guess you could say the Raiders got Te-bo(w)ned... Har har.

I recently realized I have not played poker in forever and need to make a trek to foxwoods one of these days. Can anyone comment on how often the 10/20 and 20/40 go and whether/when they are any good?

Brag- just won $54 playing 3/6 kill with Qc 8c...

Nothing more telling than the poker/royal flush iPhone cover, except for maybe the poker tattoo.

Two annoying things I've noticed thus far. I upgraded the desktop to that Lion version of the os and now the scroll function on the mouse is ****in' reversed. Jfc, I'll never get used to that. Anybody know how to make it the way it was?

Second thing: Was using the iPhone flashlight app this morning (didn't want to wake the wife) and got a lil banner add for Walgreens saying that they can print the pix you take on your iPhone. Wtf?
11-07-2011 , 08:19 AM
Sorry, double posted due to annoying mouse functionality.
11-07-2011 , 10:13 AM
When you said you upgraded I as going to ask about the scroll. My guess is that the computer scroll is supposed to now be consistent with the iPhone scroll, where hand motion moves the content and not the scrollbar. It is taking me time to get used to. I don't think you can make it go the other way.

And the Mission Control took me a little time but I kind of like it now. If you have a laptop use three fingers to move among desktops.

The main dif between limit and no limit live is that it's possible to play limit without screaming "why why why?!" once an hour when you're simply waiting for someone to act.

IME lawyers are nitty about such things because they correctly realize that there's someone out there just waiting to screw you if you're not nitty about such things.

Oops, sorry, I wasn't clear - I want to know how to transfer the program itself over. I have all the hand histories (I am a huge nit and even before the crash pulled them out of the /Processed folder and sorted them by stakes). Do I need to pay for it again (not a huge deal) or can I just use my old activation code or what?
11-07-2011 , 01:26 PM
IRRC, you can have two computers registered on a license. If you have a 3rd computer, you can e-mail support and ask them to remove one of the older ones. When I switched from my laptop to this computer, I just installed it with my activation code and it came up. This has all been a while, so I could be remembering incorrectly -- it seemed painless.
