10/20 foxwoods

MP limper is bad/loose on small streets; usually he sobers up on the turn/river.
SB is new to table but appears to play a lot of hands.

Hero has XX where X >= 10

MP limps, hero raises next in, SB coldcalls, BB folds, MP calls
As he calls he shows his hand to the guy to his right and says "I'm going to need some help."

Flop (3 players, 7 SB)
982
Check, check, hero bets, call, call.

Turn (5 BB)
5
Check, check, hero bets,
SB calls, MP raises, hero...?

I thought my initial turn bet was more or less automatic, but if it isn't, what's the smallest one-diamond pocket pair you bet with? What's the smallest one you call the checkraise with?

I'd bet the turn with any pair >= TT, and I'd call it with probably QQ or better. The c/r'er raised 2 people, and as you said he's probably got the goods when he does it (sobers up on later streets... c/r on turn vs 2 people= flush or straight).

These are tough spots, and it's really villain dependent. Against a few people I might just muck anything but AA here.

I'd bet with A or Kd, and can't imagine that I'd check raise here even with Ad.

A turn bet or checkraise have greatest value if you have fold equity, which from your description you don't have. Am I wrong?

You have to bet this turn with any overpair. Failing to do so absent any action from the other players is terrible.

I'd call the c/r and then decide what to do on the river. The c/r after the SB calls is really strong, so spike something set or better and call a bet.

On a river blank, I don't know what to do with the SB to act behind.

Call turn, call river, barring the 3rd player doing something crazy.

I had 1010 and did this (bet turn, call MP's c/r).

SB then backraised (3 bets) and MP just called. I decided I was dead and folded.

hmm. i'd consider doing this as well, because SB's hand looks exactly like the nuts. even so, you are getting 11-1 and you obviously have a draw to the best hand or this wouldn't be posted.

Well you're correct that hands get posted because something goes wrong somewhere. For me it wasn't what happened after I folded. SB had QJ (is her play any good against a TAG and a moron?) and MP called down with what he said was a set.

The thing that catalyzed the post was the feeling of "damn I keep running into monsters and falling into their stupid traps." Maybe it was run-bad but I wanted to see if anyone else checks that turn card.

Well, are you going to feel worse falling into the two card flush or giving a free card and having the the lone ace of diamonds catch runner runner on you?

I think you played exactly right, you bet when there was good reason to think you were ahead, you didn't let the monsters under the bed puss you out, but you when there was reason to know you were beat you let it go.

The third flush card hitting the board isn't reason to fear you're beat. Someone all of a sudden waking up and 3 banging is.

Does this mean you'd fold to the turn 3-bet?

If this is your line, then I think it's perfect.
