I started rocking a beard when I was about 19, haven't gone back. I like to keep it trimmed though because my neck/chin area grows way faster and darker than my cheeks and mustache haha. Plus when you start growing it's itchy, then there is a median point where it is glorious, then when it gets too long it goes back to itchy.

Beards are awesome for many reasons. A) The ladies love it. many will sit around saying "no i don't like facial hair" but once they get with a guy that has one they won't go back. I had a gf that threaten me when she thought I said I was gonna shave the whole beard as opposed to just my neck line.

B) if you are clean shaven and don't shave for a couple of days you are scruffy and look crappy. If you don't trim your beard for a couple days IT IS STILL A BEARD!

If you really miss them, there's nothing stopping you from solving the Wave Equation with axially symmetric boundary conditions by separation of variables. But only if you want, mind you.

I wish I could grow an awesome beard. It's all patchy and crappy.

I take it you didn't find those Rosetta Stone accent CDs either.

I'll have to keep that in mind. However, I'm gonna have to weight the relative merits of going thru the Nashville Springtime with a beard v. showing up in Vegas during "Happy Birthday Dear Country" with same.

beard in warm weather is not as big of a problem as long hair, as long as it's under control. ZZ-top style beard would not be good though.

Same here, but I've read thousands of Cole's posts.

Speaking of beard control, I have a plan and I'd be ever so grateful if you- as a beard-toting fellow 2p2er- would weigh-in on this.

I actually live about an hour from Nashville in a quaint, small Southern town that's just chalked full of friendly folks. For the past seven years, I've driven by a barber shop on my way to work at 0630 that's been open every day except Sunday. I've noticed that a guy about 60-70 years old is always standing behind one of the two chairs in the shop.

Today, I pulled into the parking lot and saw the following on his door:

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 5AM 'til Noon.

I'm thinkin' that this has gotta be the most perfect place in the entire world for me to keep my new look in fine fettle... especially if I show up about 5:30 or 6:00.

Thoughts?

i don't go to the barber shop for trims. I have my own clippers that I use.

If the sign really " 5am 'til Noon" written in that way and they are actually open around 6:30 you gotta go haha.

This thread has taken a rather sharp turn into the bizarre.

I'm a beard noob and consider myself a gentleman. I fancy myself getting one of those hot, steaming towels, hot shaving cream from an old-fashioned dispenser and a 70 year old dude with a tremor holding a straight razor at my neck.

This is the South. You can bet your ass that he's open at 4:55.

After a tough session of not hitting any draws and getting sucked out on, this tilt inducing hand happens. I stayed around just long enough to see how much he was going to donate back before I quit. I just couldn't take it any longer today.

standard suckout. Pot isn't even that big. Way sicker has happened to me and been posted. For example, say he check/raised, you 3bet and he capped then hit the gutshot... thats sick and effectively happened to me 3times in a session this weekend.

I couldn't grow a beard if my life depended on it. I'd probably have to take odds on a moustache.

I think we should all not shave 2 weeks before Vegas in July and see who looks the most ridiculous.

Getting a hot straight razor shave is one of the best "finer things" to get in your life. I absolutely love them, as I'm sure you would.

Every time I'm in Vegas, there's a shave place in the shop at Mandalay that I always hit up.

LD, you def have to go a give it a try.

LOL.. what do you think I would look like after not shaving for 2 weeks?

I hate shaving, but I have a 5 o'clock shadow by noon.

If you give me 3 weeks mine can look pretty respectable.

+1

I had this done in NYC by the same company as the one at the Mandalay Bay. Every man should have a barbershop shave on his check-off list and get it done (at least) once.

Now, to do it *really* right would involve cigars and whiskey as well . . .
