Small Stakes Hold'em. I don't have the sub-title thingy for it, but it's the one by Malmuth, Sklansky and Miller.

How do people keep asking this question? Isn't it obvious?

I agree. I don't think there is another single book that can change your game as much as SSHE. I think for a lot of player(at least for me) reading that book was an "AH HAH!" moment in poker.

After SSHE I'd go for

http://www.twoplustwostore.com/twopl...d&productID=25

But for live 2/4 and 3/6 SSHE is great. For online 2/4 and 3/6 HEFAP is the next step after SSHE..

atleast in my opinion..

<----------------This Book is good!

After reading that about 5 times or if your primary LHE game plays more tight/aggressive and not loose/passive move on to HPFAP and WITHG

What is our consensus of HPFAP? I haven't read it in ages, but I'm pretty sure the advice isn't particularly applicable anymore, but I checked it out a few weeks ago at a friends house and some of the stuff was pretty interesting (C/Ring the flop against a good player and a bad one to simultaneously bluff out the best hand and VB the worst.)

What say you SSL?

Weighing the Odds in Hold'em Poker by King Yao is pretty good.

I just got my King Yao book today and can't put it down. You can go to Amazon.com and they let you read the first few pages of it and also other books. It may help you decide.

If you are playing those limits live, I recommend Ed Miller's getting started in holdem, and SSHE.

If you are playing online, then I think you should add HPFAP, Theory of poker, and Stox's book.

You have to keep in mind, that almost all of these books are going to be an investment of 4-6 big bets, so if there is enough information in them, that they will help you win that much, they are breakeven. I really believe, that even bad poker books contain enough information that they will help you that much. Even if the only information in the book, is bad, it will at least let you get a grasp on how a bad player thinks, and you might recognize the player who thinks that way, and be able to take advantage of their mistakes.

One more piece of advice: It is probably better to read one good book three times than to read three books.

SSHE ldo. WITHG is also good. +2 for understanding one book > reading lots of books.

SSHE > the holy bible, koran, etc.

how many of you are in favor of convincing Sklansky, Malmuth and Miller to write a full length novel discussing how to play overcards in a SSHE game???

this might be a noob question but what exactly does WITHG stand for?

WITHG - Winning in Tough Hold'em Games. New book on tough games (when you typically have 2-3 players to the flop and blinds play becomes important).
