What happened to make it shut down?

Most likely causes are he hasn't paid the hosting fee or he went over his bandwidth limit.

I tried those directions but it didn't work.

if you are able to follow the directions, it should work. if you have a problem with a particular part, like altering your hosts file for example, try googling "how to i edit my hosts file". if you can't complete a specific step even after searching for how to do it, then post what step you had a problem with.

Maybe #4 or #8, perhaps I copied the code into the wrong place?

I just went to the very bottom and pasted it, but maybe I was supposed to paste it before the "alias, alias end" or whatever it was at the bottom of the configuration --> apache file.

i havent tried fixing MK yet, pry will just wait it out a bit and see what happens. if nothing by tomorrow or soon, i will try your steps

I followed all the steps, I didnt have any problems editing, but MK still wont run.

In the EasyPHP, Apache config, I pasted, at the very end (after alias end):

try checking your hosts file again (located in something like C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc)--- were you able to save the changes? Windows makes it difficult to change the host file-- you need to run your txt editor as administrator.

make sure that you unzipped the runbetterpoker.zip file and the correct file structure is in your easyphp directory... should be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyPHP-12.1\www\runbetterpoker\mergekeys\joe

and then the three files: news, power, and testing in that directory

When you unzip runbetterpoker.zip, find the file "testing.html". Open it with a text editor and change "1.64" to be "2.11" (or whatever version you are actually running). Make sure not to add a newline after 2.11.

I haven't seen him around on Skype lately. If I catch him, I'll ask if he is still going to support this. Last time this happened, he was either out of town or had a laptop crash or something that kept him away for a bit. Use the EasyPHP solution until then. If he no longer wants to support it and I decide to continue on Merge, I may write a replacement. Give him a chance to fix it though.

Ahhhhh, I'm on version 2.10.

sorry-- my fault... i just assumed that this server-check thing meant that everybody would probably be on version 2.11... so if you plug in your actual version, it should hopefully work

Actually, that wont stop it from running (having 2.11 instead of 2.10 when you're running 2.10). It will just pop up a little box notifying you it's out of date, but then will run fine.

So there is like some other issue if you still get the "MergeKeys is shutdown" notice and it fails to start.

I must have made a careless error somewhere.

Hopefully I'll get it sorted out in the a.m.

i cant get a fix either. do i launch mergekeys application from my desktop shortcut, or do i have to open it somewhere specifically???

my edited files all seemed to save properly, i think i have everything correct but no fix.

there i have runbetterpoker folder that is extracted, is this right, or does it need to be placed somewhere more specifically

gonna try to restart pc quick and hoping for the best - did not work, i cant get a fix and i am unsure where i went wrong. "2.11" is saved in the testing file.

perhaps this is where i am running into a problem: I have a folder entitled "downloads" it is where the runbetterpoker file was downloaded to. so downloads>runbetterpoker>mergekeys>joe>testing

Here in this location i cant change my testing log and save it, i can change it and save it to a new location but i cant change it and overwrite the save to the same file. I am trying to run it as administrator etc. and if i'm not mistaken it is being run as admin, i have my word editing program set to run as admin. However i just cant change the 1.64 to 2.11 and overwrite the save, i must save it to a new destination.

when i go to easyphp>runbetterpoker>mergekeys>joe>testing - the testing HTML file has been changed and saved successfully, So i dont know, any input???

you guys need to edit your Hosts file too. On WIN7: Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts

add this entry:

Make sure EasyPHP is running

Even after changing the testing to 2.11, you still may get a dialog tell you that 2.11 is out of date. At least I still do. You can just dismiss that dialog and use MK
