I use Avast, and turning it off seems to have worked. Avast is typically pretty light on messing with installations, in fact, this is the first issue I can remember. I run the settings as loose as possible though.
I used to use comodo firewall when I was doing more questionable activities on the web but stopped using that probably a year ago for windows firewall. Haven't regretted it yet. I am just stuck on AVG/Avira/Avast still being the best when most everything that is legit free is probably pretty close.
