Hi,

I recently installed htc sync manager on to my laptop. Installation caused windows defender to remove some malware as it assessed the program to be a threat. This is turn caused HM2 to no longer function--it just said shortcut has been removed and wouldn't let me open the program from any source).

I then unistalled htc sync manager and uninstalled HM2. I then tried to reinstall HM2 but windows continued to remove malware as it was installing and once it had been reinstalled it still wouldn't open.

I uninstalled HM2 and then turned off real-time protection on Windows Defender. This time HM2 installed without issue and opened automatically upon completion. I tested it by playing a few hands on pokerstars and it was working fine. I then turned real time protection back on in defender and then more malware was removed from HM2 and Defender said that it had found a trojan. HM2 will no longer function anymore. Turning Defender off will likely work but I don't like the idea of having to have my computer at risk in order to run HM2. PLEASE HELP!

Looking at the above comments it would appear that my installation of htc sync manager was just a coincidence. HM2 is currently not installed on my laptop and I have Windows Defender running again. Please could you let me know how I can reinstall HM2 safely without compromising the security of my PC?

Open your Windows Defender (or chosen AntiVirus program) > History tab and check to see if it shows Trojan:Win32/Fethar.B!cl

1) Select the files if they are from holdemmanager with that checkbox on the left side, then in the bottom right of the window click 'Allow Item'.
2) If you want to be sure the files are safe before using them you can test them online on a website such as this where it shows results for multiple antiviruses at once.
3) Start HM2.

Please let us know if that solved the problems.

If you continue to have problems:

Which Operating System, Firewall, and AntiVirus are you using?

Please reproduce the problem and zip/attach your HM2Logs folder with a detailed description of what you were doing and what problems you were experiencing.

Please rollback to the previous official release version 8438:

Reinstall HM2 from this file - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloa...er_2_Setup.exe

- After downloading, you should right-click the file, go to properties and click unblock.*
* If you do not see an 'unblock' option you can ignore this step.
- Then, right click the file and run as administrator.

If you are not playing on the new full tilt software there is no need to install the new 8441 beta.

If you are playing on the new FTP software please link your FTP/Stars accounts and login/use the PokerStars software instead for now.

It is a false positive. You can read more about why our software is prone for causing false positives in this sticky thread on our forums.

The instructions in the post directly above yours, that I re-quoted below, should solve the problem for you.

Hi,
just wondered if my HM2 would collect data if I just opened tables, without actually sitting down and playing myself. (cash tables)
Thanks for reply.

Hi,
stupid question about stats in HM2.
For example say my VPIP, PFR, 3BET are 20/10/5. Does this mean that I've played 35% of hands? Or does it mean that I've played 20%, but out of those I've raised half and 3bet a quarter?
I have assumed that it is latter, but recently I've had a stats 18/16/22. How could my 3bet % be higher than my VPIP?
I know this is really dumb, but got to get it right.
Thanks

This FAQ explains in detail why it is possible. The short version of the explanation is that you don't have an opportunity to 3Bet every hand you play and all stats are now based on opportunity for that stat/action, instead of based on every hand played, to be more accurate.

Can you give me a email to send the .zip log

Detail the problem with precision:

Holdem manager starts running normally, but hand after hand the performance starts to deteriorate. The point where it is almost impossible to use a pop up.
The question is,
Can I improve enough to justify buying an i7, memory and / or SSD?
Do I have any wrong settings?
Is it impossible to run efficiently HM2 + NoteCaddy with a database of 3GB +? I will always have lag, whatever the hardware?

The FAQ you quoted has a link for how to create a support ticket to send the logs near the bottom of the page. The hyperlink color/bold isn't the best on some of our FAQs but it is there. We don't give out the email address any longer.

We can't answer those questions until we have seen a log file at a minimum.

This Trojan thing is really starting to bug me out. Is there any permanent solution yet? I keep doing what you told me to (allow the Trojan from my Windows Defender) but it still detects it every time i start it up and if i don't act quick enough it deletes my HM2 and i have to reinstall it every time

I have never used a setup like that and I don't provide support for NC. I have read some threads by NC power users that suggest a separate SSD for Windows/HM2 and another SSD for PostgreSQL can give performance improvements but I have never built a machine like that for comparison. Any questions about NC performance are best asked of their support in their thread here or their forum on our site. There is also this recent thread in their forum that may be of use to your and/or a good place to ask this question.

Which version of HM2 are you using and which site are you playing on? If you are playing on FTP have you tried to roll back to 8438 and use the Stars software? Those instructions I posted last seem to work for everyone else AFAICT. The only real solution is for Windows Defender (or whatever AV you are using) is to update their definitions to prevent the false positives so we need people allowing it and reporting the false positive.

If you continue to have problems, please reproduce the problem and zip/attach your HM2Logs folder with a detailed description of what you were doing and what problems you were experiencing.

You say your results are fine so it sounds like the hands are importing.

Please send us a set of Feature Logging enabled logs/files as explained at the bottom of this FAQ with a detailed description of what you were doing and what problems you were experiencing and a link to this thread with your forum name.

With all the above information we should be able to narrow down what is causing the issue. If all the information is not included we will need to email you again to request it.

It is currently free for everyone while we work on some issues that had been plaguing it so we can get more feedback from users at various networks about which issues remain. If you haven't purchased a license it will go back to the free version (smallest of micro stakes only) at some undetermined point in the future.

It is being developed further based on feedback we received during the first public alpha testing and tested internally at this time. We will eventually have another limited access alpha version for public testing but I do not know when that might happen again.
