Glass Pool table

"the surface is reinforced glass with Nottage Design’s patented Vitrik surface to mimic the ball’s performance on traditional felt."

Very doubtful.

I've played on two of these (not sure if they had 'Vitrik surface' but doubt it could ever change much) and they are very weird. Nearly impossible to place any kind of screw or control pace, it plays a lot like...well...a glass table - who would have thought it.

Good gimmick though I guess - get very good on one and it could be a great way to hustle a rich amateur who has one and thinks they can smoke anyone on their home table.

Phil Galfond has one.

Wamy you should play Phil, i guess you could probably beat him. The $5k freeroll should stand imo.

Yeah that video shows what I mean well - balls go on and on for ages at a strange rate of deceleration compared to on cloth, and screw of any kind does not seem to bite into the table at all.

nice toy but not appropriate for serious games, might as well play golf with spherical diamonds instead of regulation balls

gonna look like crap quickly, too, as the chalk from the cuetip ends up as dust all over the table
10-19-2010 , 09:39 AM
I think one doesn't use chalk, for that reason — you have to use non-standard tips instead.

No idea why you'd want one of those. Not only is it not real pool, they're ugly as well.
10-24-2010 , 10:54 AM
I don't get why you'd want that gimmick anyway, even if it played exactly like a regular table.

Can anyone watch that video all the way through? I probably watched 5 3 second clips and they all seemed more boring than the last. I really am curious, does that work well for marketing?
10-26-2010 , 08:41 PM
I think Galfond got a good deal and part of it is that he has to show off the table.

Who the hell thought of a glass pool table anyway?Wot?

Probably the same people who thought it's cool to wear sunglasses in a nightclub.
