heya, just found this thread so I'm not up to speed on the discussion.

Really liked the comic and season 1. So far season 2 has been a0 disappointment which seems to be the consensus.

But has anybody addressed the magical force field that protects the farm from zombie attacks? At least that's how the characters talk about it and Hershell and his people don't even have guns so I'd imagine they've experienced zero attacks. It's like it's some sort of safe haven while a couple of miles down the road they have roaming herds of thousands of zombies all the farms nearby are either burnt down or crawling with zombies.

Yes we have. The show is incredible stupid. Still everyone in here keeps watching it, mostly because its so fun coming in here a couple of hours after reading this thread, and of course the videogum update. Show=42 min of pain, aftermath in thread delivers hours of joy.

Magic fence or no magic fence that farm should be a zombie magnet. If the zombie shooting gallery doesn't get everything within two miles shuffling along in their direction, then just end the show. Because they're all safe and can live happily ever after with Deer Spirit patrolling the perimeter. At least throw in a walker coming through the bushes now and again to establish that they're still on the same planet as the zombie apocalypse.

The only thing I like about Shane's character is that he's pushing what little action there's been. Otherwise he comes off like a spaz with daddy-never-loved-me issues. Since when is a haircut considered character development jfc

I assume the zombie barn will be revealed to have been repelling other zombies (who, we will learn, have once again developed a keen sense of smell). This will force everyone to move on.

I still find this series very stupid, but I guess I really liked the last scene. I've sorta accepted that the writers don't really take into account anything that has been said about the zombies and how they've acted in the past, but hey, I've only been watching for the comedy.

That would be an interesting twist. The stench of the zombie barn masked the smell of the humans.

Except zombies can't smell, or can they? Who the **** knows anymore.

If zombie smell repels other zombies, then why do we always see them traveling together in large groups?

If zombies can smell, then getting under the cars, like the group did would be a very bad life move...

It could also be like when you're in a situation that smells, you eventually sort of get used to it, and it doesn't bother you as much after awhile. The zombies that congregate with each other have gotten "used" to their group's smell, but the ones on that farm stink so bad that they don't want to get anywhere near it (obviously wouldn't make sense, since no one even knew there were stinky zombies anywhere near there). Also, none of the zombies on the farm have eaten a human, which most of the zombie congregations have probably done. It would be funny if that were their justification for the magic farm.

I'm late to the discussion, but Shawshank is one of my all-time fav movies and I had no idea Darabont was the director. Also, I doubt anyone who thinks this show is high quality is smart enough to know who Darabont is or be familiar with his work.

As for your spoiler...lol...and the ratings never lie, right? I wasn't exaggerating when I said that The Walking Dead would be a nearly top 10 show on NETWORK TV.

partially grunching so no spoilers please:

I stopped watching this season one episoded after the boy gots shot I think,
the one where "Rick" (I think?) shaves his head and it comes out that he has killed the fat guy while they were both on the run.

moved countries so didn't have time to watch but I also thought it was pretty bad..
now I'm thinking of picikng it up again, did the show get significantly better?

I see the thread has a 5 star rating now..

Anyone remember when they were in the shopping centre in town and one xombie picked up a rock and broke the window.

Some zombies in the rest of the shows simply cannot walk around a wall to get to someone yet others are smart enough to pick up a rock and break a window
