Actually, I'm probably wrong on the Kenneth Johnson part. Looks like he's just credited as the creator. Still, looks to be interesting.

I believe I'll have to break out my original "V" DVDs and rewatch them all before this comes on.

Question for all you V lovers. Would it be a good idea for me to watch the original V series first before I start this new series?

I did not follow this series when I was a kid but did remember the other kids talking about it at school. I always thought it looked rather cheesy but remember people saying how good it was.

Would it make sense to watch this series completely fresh? (which I'm planning to do) but I'm worried they'll throw in some inside references to the original that I might miss and not pick up, stuff like that.

A big reason I'm looking forward to this so much is because how much I loved the original. It's been a couple of years since I last watched it, but the original continues to hold up (I also plan on rewatching the original in the next few weeks). It'll be fun for comparison's sake; I'd say go for it and watch.

Syfy channel has been showing V all day. V: The Final Battle is on now until Midnight, and the original V starts playing after that.

I never saw a single episode of V and i read an interview with the actress from firefly that had a bunch of pictures that spoiled the **** out of it .

This V doesn't look like a remake of the old V. More like a reinterpretation of the story. Morena must be playing the part of Obama.

I haven't watched the original since I was a kid, and don't plan on doing so before the new series starts. I doubt watching the old will add anything to the new, and it might just bum me out because the production values will be so out-dated that I'll be pissed.

But I love Morena Baccarin like you all love Natalie Portman, so I'll definitely be tuned in.

man it seems like they moved the plot along way too much in just the first episode.

+2 Seems like this episode was abridged. Too much seemed left out. It needed to be a 2hr episode with a lot more explanation and detail. I actually hit rewind to make sure I didn't miss something. I'm a bit disappointed.

first episode thoughts: i'm really, really worried that this isn't gonna be good. like, it'll be one of those shows that i'll watch the first 4-5 episodes, not really like it, but not really be able to stop watching it either.

my childhood memories will force me to watch it.

that, and my GOD i want Anna, the head V chick. i'll dream about her tonight.

I just don't get Morris Chestnut's motivations at all.

So he and some other V's come to earth early to set the stage for the invasion. Fine

He joins the insurgency, almost certainly as an undercover agent for the V's. Fine

He falls in love with a human. Fine

He and some others from the advance team change sides and like the humans now. Fine

V's show up, intent to execute their plan to exterminate all of humanity. Fine

His friend from the insurgency tries to bring him back into the fold to fight for the human race. Fine

Knowing the V's plan, and that they are here to kill us all, and liking the human race (in particular, his fiance) enough to flip sides, he declines to join the insurgency and defend humanity. wat?

OK, I get that he loves his woman and does not wanna put her at risk by becoming involved, but he knows that the V's are far more advanced than the humans and would need all the help they can get to keep the entire population from being exterminated. Why the hell would he not wanna participate??? His fiance is put much more at risk by him sitting on the sidelines.

Even if he does not want to actively engage the V's, why the **** wouldn't he wanna provide intelligence on the V's strengths and weaknesses and insight into their likely tactics, of which he has intimate knowledge being a member of the advance team and all.

I was really disappointed. It seemed very rushed and bland. The only interesting character was Anna (Morena Baccarin). She's definitely easy on the eyes and has good presence, but the villain being the only good character can't carry this show.

It still has potential, but I'm not expecting much.
