Correct, but it's all wrapped up. Again, the best theories (in my opinion) are exposure angles. I think it's most likely someone's trying to expose the scheme and all that happened with the commune. So, it would have to be someone aware of every single player in the scheme and also have *some* tie to the movie set.

Caspere's body was staged in a very particular area, the only area his body could have been staged to possibly expose the commune angle (I think Ani was deliberately targeted to be part of the investigation for her tenacity/family connection). Without Ani on this case, there is no commune angle, in my opinion.

There is almost zero chance she is wearing a wire, they might not get along but she would not help put him away for life.

I figured it had to be another person who raped her because the boy is a fat redhead, and the guy who he killed looked Hispanic, or at least not a redhead and didn't look like he was a heavier build.

The guy he killed was definitely Latino. Rapist is most likely VV's not right hand anymore, unless he's just a red hairing.

VV wanted to settle a score, get someone in law enforcement in his pocket, and probably also wanted to protect someone he viewed as an asset at the time. Those things make it seem like he knew who the rapist was, even if it's not his not right hand man. Then again, they found the guy. Then again again, we need paternity test.

Just thought of something else more nefarious. Is it possible the rape kit really did not match this rapist, and someone just pulled strings to make Velcro "free" from what he thought happened? That's really why the paternity test is so important.

Since it's almost 100% that we have met the killer(s) and based on the previous season it's probably some random dude that we don't care about or even thought about. Which is just as lame.

Now that we know that NP is really just a hack writer it's probably Ani's Dad (David Morse). Spiritual Enlightened dude who is really just as money hungry and corruptible as everyone else, yada, yada, yada. Irony.

Morse is the Tuttle character of this season, someone complicit in a lot of bad stuff. Being an actual killer is unlikely, but him causing massive obstruction is not.

Season should have started with the shootout. And it annoys me how the mayor doesn't resemble his name. So the mental gymnastics I have to go through to keep up with the names and the convoluted plot is ponderous. Going to stick with it for the lulz, and to see Ani at the expensive whore party, but dgaf at all who killed who or who the true detective is.

The mayor looks Latin to me, but his name is Italian sounding. Just as your earlier posts indicate that Ani doesn't look Greek to you. It's a minor point, but given all the dialogue where someone is accused of something, it just adds to the overall sense of "who did what?" that the show is suffering from.
