I always wonder how they go about choosing - beyond the auditions and whatever. I'm happy to see D.C. has a solid representative this time:

That's a nice step up for the city, given the last contestant from Washington was a caterer (Carla, who did very well, but in my opinion the choice didn't say much for the general public's opinion of DC dining).

Also, with the new season set in Vegas, hopefully we'll see more high end dining and less vending machines...

I'm late to lunch- so haven't read the bios- but just per this picture

I'm prepared to hate fat beard guy, fat lady who looks happy about being fat, and the guy doing the Mr. Burns "excellent" hands.

The guy who looks like an extra from Deadwood is my early pick.

is it my imagination, or did they really step up the calibre of contestants this season? still a couple of caterer/self taught types, but

You have some serious fat issues. This reminds me of my formerly fat friend who thinks Michael Moore is physically the most repulsive person he's ever seen in his life. I mean, he won't get much argument from most people, but he takes it to a weird, sort of uncomfortable level.

I actually don't hate either of them for being fat. I hate beard guy for having a sloppy beard, which is just a terrible look for a chef. I hate the other girl for have a tat on her tits, and looking like some silly anachronistic rockabilly hipster goofball.

That said- upon reading his bio- I think I might end up liking beard guy.
