Still an interesting move, I have not yet wrapped my head around it and whether it's the right move or not because that tribe is such a mess.
Definitely a good move for viewers of the episode as it resulted in the blindside of a boring player and also puts an idol back into play.

I got a pretty bad memory - does anyone else remember someone using an idol on someone who wasn't part of that person's close circle/alliance?

Only time will tell if it was a good move for David. Pretty sure if I was in that spot I woulda just let Jessica go. Pretty clear that Ken wasn't in on it with his Jessica vote - will be interesting to see how he reacts and if the fact that it was only Ce-Ce and David who voted Lucy puts David in a bad spot.

Great move by David for creating a character and increase chances he gets invited back - ala Cochran in South Pacific.

I was just thinking the same...can't remember anyone playing it for someone who wasn't a proven trusted ally before.

Please no. The only person worse than David would be David and Hannah's baby.

Hopefully David and Michelle get invited back. No one else from this cast that I'm really interested in seeing again.

I doubt Michelle gets invited back. She's been invisible for two episodes and she's pretty invisible on social media. Survivor loves people that help promote their show.

Wouldn't shock me if she's a pre-merge boot. Sad but very possible.

Not quite the same, but when Parvati protected both Jerri and Sandra, they weren't fully part of the Russell alliance. It was just to keep the numbers for the villains.

it makes plenty of sense to do it post-merge when you can plan the endgame

i dont think its ever happened pre-merge and especially pre-tribe swap

Eliza is completely right. If Ken, David and Jessica go on to dominate, 99% of fans will say it was a top 3 idol play, if not, then we'll say it was too early, swap was coming, etc..

It was a spewy play. It is super early and he didn't even use it to protect himself or alliance member.

Seems like a horrible move this early, but love seeing idols get played. Seems like the play is to pretend you have a super idol and float to the end like yul or tony

Not an argument, it's a statement. It's true, too.

Hmm Sandra maybe. Jerri pretty much was by that point. But that was post merge where both sides were pretty much drawn, if they don't get the numbers that vote almost certainly a hero wins unless Sandra somehow worms her way in which would be very unlikely. This is pre merge with 16 players remaining and a tribe whereby alliances are shifting each week.

We must be watching different seasons because there's no one that stands out, imo. Much less be asked back. Last two tribals were good, that's about it.

I think it's already a fact that 2 people from this season are being asked back.

I hope people don't analyze it too much though because that's spoiler-ish. But it's way too early to tell if anyone will be worthy. The real game of survivor usually starts at the merge, or at least tribe swap.

Survivor has been struggling with hash tags this season. Don't know how they go with #Tigermom and #LiveTribal, and ignore #TheyAboutToSeeSomeTatasToday

I really think that idol play is best ranked as such:

Find idol/tell nobody >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> find idol, tell some one, play it early >>>>> find idol, tell someone, hold it >>>>>>>>>>>> find idol, wear it everywhere >>>>>>>>>>> The Erik.

So David prob ****ed up telling someone he had it, but after that was that he made the right move by ditching it. If he takes it to merge he's almost guaranteed a split vote against the idol.
