D&C are getting better every show, and Gary is always great. I loved the podcast this week.

Gary has a lot of experience. He was part of a lot of ESPN and Pokerroad podcasts.

Sure!

btw, did I lose an avatar bet to you last season? I lost to someone and they PM'ed me my payment (Allison Bree, I think), but I deleted the email too hastily and can't find it now.

Now you are just rubbing it in!

I lost to you last season.

I don't want to draft everyone. How about we draft at 12? That way we have some time to see everyone.

Just a few thoughts about Michael...

First, a few points against:

1. He looks like an @$$.

2. Moments into the game he stole stuff from the other tribe. I'm unclear as to whether everyone knows he stole stuff. I didn't get the feeling they knew at the time. But he surely owned up to it to the men later on. And if the men know, the women may well know or be told by someone who wants to throw Mike under the bus at a later date. And even if the men are like, awesome, Mike stole some stuff for us, he's our man. They also have to think in the back of their minds that Mike is a sneaky stuff stealing bastard.

3. When Jay voiced concern that team pectoral was going to draw unwanted attention, Mike said, "No we're not...blah blah blah. Four strong." Really? He thinks the four most blatant physical threats are going to obviously band together and be allowed to simply waltz to the end unimpeded? Is he bad at the maths or am I yet again overestimating the good sense of the rest of the field?

4. The whole 'who do you think is in charge over here?' conversation with the women seemed ill advised. Why are you causing your foe to think about the power structure of your tribe? Why are you assisting them in figuring it out? (I noticed when Jay came up, Mike made a point of saying the girls approached HIM, not the other way around.) I'm just not sure what Mike's deal was with that conversation. Was he trying to lay the blame on Matt or someone else for not sharing the fire? Was he thumping his own chest? I'm not sure.

Some points in favor:

1. He and Matt both claimed to have charisma. In Michael's case, I tend to believe him a little bit. It feels like he has just enough charm to overcome the fact that he looks like and sometimes even acts like an @$$.

2. If the fact that he stole stuff is common knowledge, there has been no evidence shown as of yet that he specifically is thought of as a deviant scumbag. (Though the men in general are not particularly well thought of by the women partly due to his thievery.) If they know he did it and are mostly meh about it, I think that supports point 1. in his favor.

3. He's a physical threat, but he has other physical threats who are likely to be targeted before himself. Matt and Jay are taking a pretty hard line 'we aren't helping these vile wimins' approach, and Mike seems to be more willing to talk to and flirt with the other tribe. Come some sort of swap or merge, I have to think that will help him.

4. Again, I think a willingness to interact with the other tribe could help him in the future. And I'm wondering if the 'who do you think is in charge' conversation was an attempt to throw some blame on the other guys in his alliance for the non-sharing of the fire and so forth. There is no way to know this for sure. My first instinct was why is he giving the girls intel? But I could see some possible reasoning for it.

just watched the first ep.

i'm def. rooting for jonas and christina. jonas just looks sympathetic and i loved christina. i have a thing for asian girls, and if that wasn't enough, she had me stealing the fire and then telling alicia to STFU at TC. won't even mention the incredible roll eyes.
I also have a thing for tattoed women and kourtney was just cute. too bad she got injured

matt is obviously a dick and colton just reminds me of this

ps: am i the only one who found probst's voice really weird in the opening sequence? i don't know how they do it, but it just seemed they couldn't hear him when he was on the hellicopter and he had to dub it out on a crappy mic. it just didn't sound like him. i don't know if they ALWAYS dub that scene but this one got my attention.

3. He's a physical threat
I think that this is the least important point in a men vs woman format. Matt also got it wrong when he talked in his confessionals about how the strong always survive early on so he is sitting pretty.

It's men vs woman, so challenges will not involve bench pressing or something like that. It will more likely be balancing stuff, solving puzzles etc.
Take the last challenge for example .. it didn't matter if you were Michael, Matt, Jonas or Sabrina.

That's also the reason why Colton can vote out Matt with the idol and not really weaken his tribe challenge-wise.

Speaking of challenges .. if anyone wants to know what the next reward challenge will be:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_FGUsTavC0
It's "spoilery" in a sense that you know the type of challenge and you see the beginning .. but not the end. Oh and is it just me or was the men's choice of who to sit out a bit stupid?

I've thought Probst voice has sounded weird in several of the opening sequences to seasons.. possibly something to do with the helicopter

A co-worker and I had a survivor draft this morning. Points are awarded for winning challenges, playing/finding idols, and just hanging around as well as winning. Thoughts on the teams (listed in draft order, it was snake and I had first pick)?

Me:
Chelsea
Jonas
Bill
Kim
Matt
Colton
Alicia
Kourtney (10 points for going home first)
Tarzan

Him:
Jay
Mike
Kat
Sabrina
Leif
Christina
Monica
Troy-zan
Nina

I feel like I got most of the players I wanted, so I feel pretty good about my chances. I am 3-0 against him in past seasons so that isn't really a surprise.

Being a strong male on a men vs women season must suck. Your strength isn't valued since none of the early challenges will involve anything physical. I think the pectoral alliance needs to realize they need to do more than just flex their muscles if they want to make the merge.

But do the players know enough to not value strength? I'm not certain. I feel like the combination of deltoid-fueled arrogance and the perception (both in Survivor and Real Life) that strength is always the best attribute will cause the pectoral alliance to be viewed as a challenge asset/threat in a manner similar to a normal season. Which is probably not a good thing for them.

Also, glad Kourtney is getting the love around here. Very cute. ++ tattoos. +++ penguin hat.

Them acting as individuals probably wouldn't get them picked off, however, banding together on day 1-2 and creating an alliance(if it was a secret alliance it's fine but it seems other players already know those 4 are together) puts a huge target on each one. It seems very similar to what happened in Vanuatu when all 4 of the strong men got picked off right away.

The big question I have is how quickly do they end up switching up the tribes? I wouldn't think this men versus women thing will last much longer, maybe another 2-3 episodes tops.

It's a voiceover, which is almost always going to be noticeably different than what a regular mic picks up.

These people on Wheel of Fortune suck.

I hope some good Alicia GIFs come from tonight. Also would like to see the men go to TC, with the HII in Colton's pocket.

This. 2p2 throws around the terms GOAT, WOAT pretty liberally but I'm having trouble thinking of a former player worse than he is.
