Looking for a crime/drama/serial show. Preferably one with a number of seasons so that I have plenty to watch over the winter.

My favorite shows in some sort of order:

Sopranos
GoT
Breaking Bad
The Wire
True Detective
Boardwalk Empire
Sons of Anarchy
The Shield
Deadwood
Justified
Homeland
House of Cards

Shows that I enjoy but don't love:

The Americans
Fargo
Banshee
Vikings

Shows I couldn't get into:

Dexter
Lost
Walking Dead

Not sure it fits with your track record, but I find it interesting that Mad Men isn't even on here as having been one you tried.

Oz is a bit dated, but maybe give it a shot based on what you've liked.

And if you enjoyed Deadwood, you should probably watch Luck, which is also from Milch; but be forewarned that it only has one season.

Fans of Homeland might also enjoy Sleeper Cell - an older Showtime series.

Oz and Mad Men slipped my mind. I enjoyed Oz (not one of my favorites, but very entertaining) and Mad Men I have watched as well (and like.)

If you liked breaking bad and deadwood I think you would like these shows. These are really slow moving dramas.

Hannibal: 2 seasons both fantastic.

Justified: it's had 5 or 6 seasons w/the last one coming up next year I think. This is one of my fav shows of all time. Easily the coolest dialogue you'll see anywhere

2nd tier
person of interest, grimm, and arrow. All 3 are network shows so you'll see more procedural focus than the 1st tier stuff, but they all have deep good serial stories.

Peaky Blinders is on Netflix. It is a must-see if you like Mafia type shows. These guys are the Irish version in England and it is based on a real family.

Absolutely brilliant acting, writing, sets etc . . .
