meh episode saved by stiller who was good and my weakness for Stefon and the underground music sketches.

wtf already with abby elliot--she's the only castmember who brings absolutely nothing to the show and she never is anything other than the straight meaningless character who has 1 line and then disappears.

I really liked this one. Thought Stiller was really weak until the Springsteen sketch, but the rest of the cast brought it. Loved the recurring Future Me sketches and Nan Washingtom

Jackman isn't recognizable enough, especially in costume. I don't think anyone (including me) knew what was going on. I kinda thought it was Paul Brittain at first.

He was pretty good in that music festival thing. I'm not a fan of his either, but he seems to be improving.

Her Nancy Grace was funny imo.

I don't watch SNL regularly, but I caught last night's Anna Faris episode starting about 30 min in. I saw:

A skit where they have funny Spanish accents and break into dance once in awhile.
Some decent Update zingers, the OK 2nd-hand news bit, a bad Halloween rap where I couldn't understand most of the words.
A skit where they have funny Japanese accents and break into song once in awhile.
A politics skit. Not my thing in general but this one seemed especially drawn-out.
A skit where they sing about how tough relationships are these days for women. Lots of singing.
A skit where one guy has a funny English accent and dances funny, Sudekis doing his screamy Ferrell impression.
A skit where a guy's rapping and he's interrupted by a funny-dressed woman with a glaring camel toe. Wait that wasn't a skit.
A skit where they have funny New Jersey accents and are attracted to weird-looking guys. This was one of the better skits of the night.

The biggest laughs came from close-ups of Heder making funny faces. Most of the skits got that awkward merciful applause when they finally ended.

Was this episode par for the SNL course these days?

For me, this was the worst episode of the season so far. It wasn't par for the course for the season, but par for the course for SNL as a whole. There will always be a few mediocre shows like this one (and a few terrible shows yet to come) per season.

Pretty excited for the Charlie Day episode after the break.

Maybe it is just because I am sucker for musical theatre, but I really liked that number with all the female cast. Faris was a good game host and generally this season has been stronger than last because they have actual funny people hosting. That Drake song with Nicki Minaj was terrible.

That Japanese sketch was A+++ I want to see it become semi recurring and its not often i see a new sketch and think that. They nailed the tone perfectly even going so far as to point out how it was close to the line between spoofing an homage and being straight up racist.

And yeah, the music sucked, but i dont really get hip hop/R&B.

Watch the McCarthy ep after reading the thread. Agree she carried it super well, she's obviously a natural due to the Groundlings thing, but it's nice to see a host that puts effort in and doesn't stare at cards (hmmm Robert Deniro). I'd seen her in Bridesmaids and 'The Nines' before but that's it.

Is that Mike and Molly show actually good or just a normal stupid sitcom?

The Seinfeld Apartment Murder sketch was awesome.

i didnt really think Charlie was really funny in that format, but he didn't F up really, so that's good i guess.

My DTV was acting up to the C-Lo skit so I missed those skits, but I didn't think the rest was all to great, kind of whatever. I thought Day did a good job but I only say 2 skits from him and it was 50/50.

The Weekend update I thought was great, Hader was hillarious, and the Seinfeld Murder scene was also excellent. Surprised it was put that late in the show. Hader saying Ola instead od Aloha was too funny.

Also, the middle chick in the pile of women was pretty freaking hot.

What I saw of the show I would give it a C.

- was disappointed that the only real glimpse of her ta tas was The Apocalypse skit (which was excellent btw) where she played Christina Aguilera.

- thought Stefon skit was a bit off.

- very weird digital short.

- for some reason got a good laugh from the Dog DVD bit.

- thought music was OK but it appeared like she was lip syncing.

I liked the digital short, with the time travelling, right? It kept my interest. that sketch with the queen was funny too. Also I kinda liked Robyn. The second song she did was cool.

Kristen Wiig as the flirting expert was hilarious. She's my favorite. I like Vanessa Brayer too most of the time, especially the passive aggressive best friend from childhood bit she does with armisen.

Vanessa Bayer reads cuecards more than any castmember i can remember and isnt cute enough for me to say she doesnt suck.

Kristen Wigg has some annoying characters, but she's a great actress, as solid as any even on the show, imo. she might be the best woman ever.

weekend update was great, Baldwin, Wigg, and Stefon all delivered. Also, I'd sign up for a Stefon movie in a second. I want to see some of the things he describes.

That digital short was incredible

They actually encourage them to read the cards and don't want anybody memorizing lines because they so often change and add things at the last second. But if your saying that others can at least hide that they're reading the cards much better than her, that could be the case.

its absolutely the case. she has the same dumb wide eyed face in every sketch also. i think she looks cute as Miley, but frumpy in everything else.

Beside her, the other secondary players are good. even Jay has been pretty good lately.

They have a really good cast atm, they just need to stop doing multiple political sketches, stop with the Wigg characters that absolutely no one likes (password lady, the hot chick who says disgusting things, etc) and cut sketches about a minute shorter and they'll be alright. I like Seth in the WU too.

The second America J-Pop Funtime Now! wasnt as good as the first one. Perry<Faris. I really like that recurring sketch though.

Wigg has to be the hardest working person on the show. I get the sense that whenever they need to write a skit at the last minute they go to one of hers the most, prob why she's in some bad ones. She fills a lot of time just the way she performs.

It also doesn't help that it hit all the same beats as the last time, so there was no surprise for the audience.

Robyn and WU were the only good parts of this episode imo.

nice seeing the old gang. Fallon is a great sketch guy. Even got a tebow bit in there.
