This show is decent, but I can't see it lasting more than a couple seasons.

Seriously? It could follow the company's transformation from a tiny startup to a huge company. Seems like there is easily material for 60+ half hour shows.

Still can't get over the delivery of "Thank you... Florida." I didn't know that guy died of lung cancer either so his run on the show is about to be over.

I wonder if they will recast him or write him off. Hard to imagine the show without the character.

They'll probably just have him die, and the company will fall into chaos giving fodder for at least 8 more episodes.

Thank You, Florida definitely joke of the episode. I liked the tone of the pilot and second episode more, but I think I legit lol more now than I ever did for those episodes.

I also agree that the main character is the weakest link of the main cast. He has his part to play, and he is likely doing it well, but I laugh harder at pretty much everyone else.

I don't like Seinfeld either, but she doesn't bother me.

I didn't know it was possible to not like Seinfeld.

seinfeld is godawful, worse than torture, poison to our souls.

i did watch the first episode of veep and it was ok. i kinda liked JLD, so maybe she was just bad on seinfeld.

but hopefully this ends the thread derail.

This feels much more sitcommy than I expected out of HBO/Mike Judge/this cast. Whoever compared it to TBBT is right. You could add a laugh track and throw it on network TV and it would fit right in.

Yeah I feel this more and more with every ep. Which is disappointing and not really to my tastes.

Also they say the death of sitcoms is changing the norm where as change is almost demanded in the way this show is setup.

Watched this for like 10 minutes, I wasn't impressed nor cared to get a larger sample size.

Anyone who quits on a show after 10 minutes isn't someone I want to be associated with anyways. Not to say this show is great television because it isn't but that's just some short sighted quittery from you bro.

Still think there's some potential for this show. The lead is bad but you have to hope he'll get better. Judge is good at his job across the board. This was renewed already so you have to think it starts to gel. Right?

I disagree with the assessment that the lead is bad. I think he's doing exactly what they hoped to get out of him. The problem is that he's a completely unlikable character. They've gone so far with this already, that they're very close to having him lose the audience forever. His character is just way too awkward for the level of ability that he has. They need to stop flip flopping the character. We just can't relate to him if he doesn't start pulling his head out of his ass.

All comedies take about 6 episodes to find their groove, so it's not really a surprise it's not all there yet (though this one needed to be a lot tighter considering it only has an 8 episode first season). I think the biggest problem is that the show seems to be getting worse every episode, though there are still good things that happen in every one.

the Indian/Pakistani? guy n dude from party down are awesome.
the dude from she's out of my league is great. the rest is meh.
it's decent and will keep watching it but I LOVE mike judge and was so stoked when I found out he was teaming up with HBO. expected epicness.
beavis n butthead is an all time classic but this hasn't come close to that level.

felt veep owned them with their parody of the valley last week.

RBK I agree, I think the Indian/Pakistani guy (whom I actually liked on Franklin and Bash as well) and the guy from She's Out of My League need some more screen time. So far their delivery with their jokes have gotten the most laughs out of me.

Not sure why you think this.

I can think of quite a few comedies that were uproariously funny from the first 5-10 minutes (Eastbound, Rick and Morty, Veep, etc).

Veep was based on something else, and was done by the same people who did that show. I don't watch the other two, so I can't comment. Still, I should have said most, good catch. The big thing you'll notice with most comedies is that the characters, performances, chemistries change over time. The most elite comedies are always good from day one, but they almost always get better over the first several episodes as people get to know each other and their characters.

I'm guessing they have him come into his own a bit here now that he has an official talking head who he trusts. (Although that may not last long)
