Oh, another thing is that Starz Ent. is looking for a buyer: it's entirely possible they'd prefer not to have a show like Party Down (for whatever reason) as the crown jewel in their scripted block when buyers look at their assets.

Yeah, I don't know at what time it exactly aired - I just caught on to the show in the last 2 months, so I had my DVR set to record the show at any time, on any one of the Starz channels. I saw it before I saw the 2nd to last episode.

I'm guessing the combination of your points, losing key cast members, and I'm sure cast members looking for salary increases all led to the decision.

There were some weird airings, where eps showed up early on some off brand Stars channel or something. Sepinwall mentioned it on his podcast a few times.

I don't have a Starz subscription.

What else do they have? I don't think I know of one single original starz program besides PD. Is there anything else worthwhile?

Spartacus. First few eps were laughably bad, then it turned into some sort of weird over-the-top masterpiece of character development and operatic storytelling.

FCC Chairman Overturns Decision To Cancel 'Party Down'07.15.10
WASHINGTON—Citing the fact that the series never really got the chance it deserved, the Federal Communications Commission announced Monday that it was immediately reversing the Starz channel's decision to cancel the critically acclaimed TV show Party Down. "We regret that [Starz] chose to end such an original program at the height of its viewership and right when Henry was finally making strides in his acting career," FCC chair Julius Genachowski said. "The FCC remains committed to serving the public good, and after sitting idly by while Veronica Mars and Firefly got dumped before they were able to find their audiences, we could not let Party Down suffer the same fate. If we give up on this show now, we're no better than the Hollywood hotshots who make Casey and the gang question their dreams." With Party Down back on the air, Genachowski said he and his colleagues could now return to working on their It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia spec script.

You shouldn't even have to know what the Onion is to know if it's legit or not. I find it hard to believe you're seriously questioning the veracity of that article.

No, The Onion is not legit. It's a parody newspaper.

hhahahah if you really thought that might be real - so awesome.

Also - you must not be American?

I just can't imagine someone who is 1) American, 2) under the age of 40, and 3) posting on 2p2, not knowing what The Onion is!

Just saw Step Brothers today. Wow, what a piece of ****. But unsurprisingly, Adam Scott was by far the best thing about it.

I didn't like it after the first viewing, it took a month of nonstop HBO play for me to love it. It's the f*cking Catalina wine mixer.

I was expecting another Talladega Nights (same director & two lead actors) and it was not even close.

On the other hand (not to hijack the thread too much, but Party Down is dead so might as well) I saw Sex Drive and was pleasantly surprised by how hilarious it was (kind of like Walk Hard, but in a more juvenile American Pie-ish way). Seth Green and James Marsden are awesome in it and these two freshman geek characters had me rolling. One of the more random out-of-the-blue good comedies I've seen in a while that I expected to be garbage.

Variety reports that Rob Thomas, Jon Enbom and Dan Etheridge, producers of the recently cancelled Starz series "Party Down", are working on a new pilot for NBC called "Temps". The project is a single-camera comedy, similar to "Party Down", dealing with a group of recent college grads who are forced to take a variety of oddball temp jobs to make ends meet.

Anybody seen Children's Hospital? Ken Marino and Megan Mullaley landed here after Party Down was cancelled. The show is great - created by Rob Corddry and also features David Wain, Ed Helms, Henry Winkler, Rob Huebel, Lake Bell, Michael Cera, etc.

It is on Cartoon Network - 1st season (5 eps) can be bought at iTunes for $4.
