so this is real????

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1611224/

I guess this is going to be a movie adaptation of a book but the book was just recently published in March of 2010 while that episode of party down aired in April of 2009. I guess they couldn't get Adam Scott to play Lincoln.

Yes, it's real. The book is from the same guy who brought you "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies". God, mashup fiction is the worst kind of pandering.

Haven't watched PD in awhile so refresh my memory: is the Abe Lincoln thing a reference to the episode at JK Simmons' daughter's sweet 16 where Henry runs into his old actor friend?

Sort of? The book and movie are real and I think came about independently of the Party Down episode.

Yeah. His friend is trying to get him in a movie where Edgar Allen Poe fights vampires and is helped by Lincoln. He want's Scott to play young Lincoln. The weird part is that the episode aired about a year before the book was published and now three years later the movie is getting made.

Burning Love is a masterpiece. With 8 min episodes, the season can be watched in a couple of hours. Highly recommend.

Favorite episodes?

Only seen season 1 and the first two eps out of season 2 but for me it's:

1. "Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh" (gangster party
2. "James Rolf High School Twentieth Reunion"
3. "Sin Say Shun Awards Afterparty" (porn party)
4. "Jackal Onassis Backstage Party" (Rockstar party)
5. "Taylor Stiltskin Sweet Sixteen"

Awesome show.

Almost impossible to pick, past the ones you mentioned, Steve Guttenberg comes to mind as a favorite.

Yeah it's tough to pick favorites but that's a pretty unimpeachable top 3

High school reunion was pretty much a perfect episode of television, Ron Donald at his absolute best/most pathetic. Easy number one for me

Same. Then I really liked the one with the mcboyle dude playing Marilyn Manson.

I think the pilot gets really underrated. There's some wonderful oblivious / pathetic Ron stuff in there.

Is that the pool party with the jigger? If so, yeah that's a great ep. Somewhere in this thread is an oral history of the show, with a section dedicated to the pilot being shot in someone's backyard.

Guttenberg and Steven Weber were amazing, but High School Reunion is some next level TV.

Yeah, the one where Ron manages to say "I don't want you serving them two jiggers" while also being afraid to get a black guy a replacement for his piece of fried chicken that he dropped. And on top of that, casually referring to "those Mexicans" ("I learned some things at the diversity workshop. Mexican? Not offensive!")

It's also got him attempting to terrorize the daughter of the house after she thinks she catches him masturbating.

Oh, I forgot how aweome the College Conservatives episode is, too. Leave it to Ron to try to suck up to that organization's half-his-age Ron equivalent. And then of course burning the flag.

"There are two kinds of people, Henry, achievers and ****ups! Which one do you want to be?"
"Well, what are you being right now?"
"I'm an achiever!"
"Well, then I'm definitely a ****up."

Grunching this thread. Was this show canceled or was it meant to just be a one year show? Just wondering if the writers ever said what the plan might have been for season 2.

There was a season two, pretty much more of the same minus Constance plus Megan Mullally

Also, the show got cancelled because it got terrible ratings even by Starz-Friday-night-comedy standards
