Is this just a big level?

Yeah, I noticed that the first time and found it kinda strange, but I forgot about it halfway through.

i'd like to hear salva135 use that line with his wife when she gets pregnant the first time and threatens to divorce him because he forgot to ask for no mustard on her burger when he drove through burger king on his way home from work.

people are wayyyyy overselling the "pregnant chicks be moody, y'all" angle. They're not this ****ing crazy. And she's not even in woo-boy **** is getting crazy 3rd trimester territory.

so in your experience with woo-boy **** is getting crazy 3rd trimester territory type chicks, or even first semester-just a little crazy type chicks, how many of them also found out their boss was sleeping with their mother? and they met at their wedding?

Omfg this discussion is so ******ed.

She really wasn't acting that crazy. You guys are acting like she was throwing herself down stairs and punching people in the face. It was "out of character" for Pam, sure, but finding out your mom is sleeping with Michael Scott is not exactly an everyday event.

To recap:

1. She's a woman.
2. She's pregnant.
3. She just found out something that, while funny to the viewer, is like an emotional Kingda Ka.
4. SHE'S A ****ING WOMAN. Stop saying "Wow, I might have done x, but I definitely wouldn't have done y!" Not only has the scenario never happened to you--making your speculation irrelevant--but you are not a woman. They cry for random reasons and act stupidly passive aggressive for a week just because a donut they ordered came sprinkled and not sugared. Pam flipped out, but I'm not sure what else you really expected. I'm not arguing it was the funniest storyline ever, because it totally wasn't, but for those of you who always "OMG SO UNREALISTIC--LOL WOULD NEVER HAPPEN" this show, if Pam had just congratulated Michael on his happiness and sat quietly in the break room for the rest of the ep, that would've been... omg so unrealistic.
5. Btw, she's a chick fwiw.

--

Lastly, all the "Wow they've totally wrecked Jim and Pam beyond repair" blather is moronic for many reasons, not the least of which is that it should be readily apparent to any of you that what happens in any given episode or cluster of episodes has a very short half-life as far as permanent reputations go. Although he is my favorite character, Michael has been hated on more than anyone else in these threads, and yet when he has a good episode, all of that is forgotten. So the "Wow, I can't view Pam as anything but a stuck-up bitch anymore... wtf did they do this show!!!?!?" talk is such drivel that I'm vomiting as I type this.

fwiw, I agree with istewart that this clearly doesn't ruin either character. It's a TV show, one good ep and it's all under the rug. Pam isn't ruined. Jim isn't ruined (but he'll continue to be lame).

I do, however, think the Jim / Pam arc is rather boring nowadays and the writers should shift focus elsewhere.

"Crazy" isn't defined by some hard and fast rules. If I saw some dude in the back of class crying his eyes out while etching some dude's name into a lecture desk with a Swiss Army Knife, I'd think he was crazy... but if he told me his dad was just killed in a car accident, I think I could find it within myself to give him a pass.

Similarly, if I saw some woman shouting at the sky in a parking lot, I'd think she was a lunatic, until she told me...

I think its cool that they have people go out of character. Just like in real life, peoples moods in the office will change from day to day. Im sure we've all had our run ins with some crazy ho who just couldnt keep it together.

Also get ready for this kind of "jim" for a while imo.

I don't understand what was so wrong with Jim in this episode. He was just trying to calm down Pam the whole time.

Jesus people are forgetting what a horrible human Michael is. Pam going to work at his new company was 1000x more unbelievable than her freaking out over her mom.

I can think of three women at my office off the top of my head who we enjoy laughing at, and if any one of them became my mom I would freak the **** out.

On The Office, it's generally OK for these characters to not quite be real people as long as it's funny. Here, it wasn't funny,
They can't nail every joke. Just because it wasn't funny doesn't mean the writers weren't intending it to be. Actually I think spazzing out is a lot funnier than being the appropriate amount of angry.

jim is excellent last few eps imo.
he is actually not a Dbag as much as he was b4 he was co-manager.

Pam was very freaky last show. I don't care if he behavior was logical or not. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way... I def hated that episode b/c of her. I have never "hated" an episode. But that, might be the worst episode of the office I have ever watched.

Whatev, I'm easy going and will enjoy next episode.

i stopped liking pam since the episode when she was ranting about the microwave being dirty. liked her better when she was a naive, good-hearted, dansel in distress without much confidence. but then she started going out with jim and became a self-aware confident bitch. i do not approve.

i don't get all the hate on jim though

What's there to get? He's super self-centered and a jerk. Once in a while he's nice, mostly because he's desperate for a friend. And he's monumentally stupid. Mystery solved!
