The Office - Season 6 The Office - Season 6

Terrible ep. Just feels like the writers had a bad idea, and now have backed themselves into the corner. Both in terms of the co-managers and merit based raises vs equality. On paper that might seem like a good idea for an ep- but it just wasn't executed well enough.

Just way too many times where I thought "this is too dumb to be real" and was busy being annoyed at the plotting instead of enjoying the show.

Dwight really felt off as well. Whole thing had a feel like they let somebody new write an ep, and they should not let that person do that ever again.

I thought the obv play was just to give everybody an equal raise (albeit reduced).

They are cost of living raises, simply meant to keep the purchasing power of salaries consistent, they're not really supposed to be performance based.

Yeah- that's another valid point. That whole bit read like somebody never bothered to really think about how this would work in a real office. Just felt like very lazy writing.

Would like to agree with the sentiment of that being one of the worst episodes of the office ever. WTF was up with Jim seriously going out and telling everyone that only the sales team was getting raises. GMAFB.

Really awkward, really unbelievable and barely funny.

See, I think in the hands of better writers that could be a great bit.

Jim is trying to be the anti-Michael. Rather that dick around, he's just going to be honest, make a "tough decision" and communicate like an adult- only to find out that that's impossible given the environment that Jim has helped create.

They just didn't pull it off, and it just looked horrible.

Yeah, Michael suggested giving everyone 1.5% increases, but then after Jim's idea bombed it seemed like he and Jim just forgot about that option altogether.

I thought it was the kind of show that would keep up the quality, but the beginning of this season is v disapointing

Exactly. Yesterday a pretty bad episode, but the show has been surprisingly fresh and funny so far this season. Pretty much every comedy has a few sub-par episodes every now and then. Its not big deal.

No I'm pretty sure she said it was Asturd.

once again another deleted scene that might have made the episode a little better

Yeah, that just makes Dwight look more insane really.

It's like they forgot that Dwight was almost fired last year- and that he's smart enough to know that he wouldn't have a chance of promotion.

jim is reminding me too much of ryan when he was working for corporate and that's just not cool. all he's missing is the black shirt and 6'o'clock shadow

This scene was as bad as the rest of the episode. Dwight talking with food in his mouth was awful

I just liked Andy's line that the Big Tuna was starting to stink. Beyond that it was a pretty weak scene.

obv if that was the first ep I had ever seen, I would never watch it again.

I will give the writers the benefit of the doubt and hope the funny will be back soon.

I guess I am in the minority, but I thought this episode was decent. Not great by any means, but I thoroughly hated last week's episode (and totally loved the season opener). I do agree the co-manager plotline is dumb, but it is a different direction, and I always like seeing Jim fail at everything that he makes fun of Micheal for failing at.

As a brit I am pretty much automatically better placed than you to judge the relative comedic merits or lack of in this show. I have watched every episode in every season of both versions and can honestly say I have not seen a worse episode.

As previously stated if you can provide the name of an episode which offered even less than this one then please do as I am at a loss to do so.

Labelling everyone morons for stating fact is quite blinkered when the evidence is quite clear that this episode was just not funny.
