+1 There's a significant population of the US that rarely seeks out trivia about the TV show they're watching.

I think I'm kind of glad that Mad Men didn't go to HBO. There would be a lot more hairy 60's bushes than I've seen in awhile. And with Matt's penchant for accuracy, the hippy bushes might be too much to take.

In a bubble that article is fine, but I Bleacher Report and Buzzfeed "articles" that are glorified chain e-mails are the nut worst and I frequently get linked to them.

Bleacher Report is the worst, they're all these useless slideshows spread across 30 pages that don't have any new information but are still engineered to show up at the top of google news searches

Dids - you are out of touch with normal people, man.

I'm someone who watches every episode of Mad Men at least twice, participates on a poker forum message board to discuss the series, am friends IRL with an actual Mad Men writer, and read blogger reviews online.

I knew like maybe half of those things.

maybe not so much out of touch, but there is a loud minority itf who are super nits about minutae. The type of which will be on display starting on the 15th, with a new round of analysis of BB.

Well, fwiw, the nittiness in the Mad Men thread is not bad at all.

I actually counted and my stats from that article:

Knew the Facts Cold: 11
Iffy On But Generally Knew: 5 (e.g. production cost of Mad Men, number of female writers)
Had No Clue About: 9

It was worth a read. If there was one new bit of info about show I enjoy, I consider it time well spent.

These days with radio, cable, and internet sources, almost nothing is news anymore. But you still need to keep the channels open, through the noise a few nuggets can be found. The one medium I have tuned out is the critic, most of them have an agenda in play. Over the years I've loved what they hated and hated what they loved. If I read their stuff its only a skim for info, and skip the editorial.

Yeah for real. He's so so so good. It's really crazy that ****ing Gus from breaking bad got nominated over GOAT Pete. WTF.

I'm surprised Jared Harris got nominated over John Slattery or Kartheiser. Emmy voters love them some death episodes!

Glad to see Christina Hendricks get a nod, she was outstanding this season.

Sounds like the top five billed actors are coming close to a deal to stay with the show through season seven, its likely end. (Jon Hamm already has a deal; the report says the others-- Moss, Kartheiser, Jones, Hendricks-- are close.)

How many of the main characters are extroverts in the truest sense of the term, i.e. they are energised by being around people? Roger is the only one that jumps out at me although I am sure there are others.

Moss? Awesome. I figured she wasn't totally gone, but that's good to see.

Watched S5 out of order because one of my roommates watched it. Finally starting the series from the beginning. Halfway through S2 and loving it.

Sweet.

I know that Mad Men trailers are the vaguest of the vague, but is there one yet? Maybe just a teaser?
