This is one of the best shows on right now and I think his season has been the best of the series so far. It's such a unique show, and thinking that some parts are dreams or not is completely missing the point. Like when the the garbage men jump on his bed or when he gets up and screams out of the window at the therapy session, he isn't dreaming. Hes showing you how things feel to him in a unique and creative way. The garbage trucks are so loud so early that it "feels" like they're literally smashing cans together in your room. Having a therapy session with your ex wife is probably so frustrating that youd want to scream out of a window (and no one noticing is funny too).

A few seasons back he went to visit his dad with whom he has a bad relationship with. He rings the doorbell and runs away. Then gets in a race car, drives to a pier with a speed boat waiting for him, takes the boat to the middle of the ocean and climbs up a ladder from a helicopter. This is not a dream. It's also not really happening, and I guess if you don't get that you don't really get Louie.

in that sense you're merely arguing over semantics.

u realize art and esp louie is a highly subjective medium, and I would argue there isn't "one thing to get" or "one correct way" of interpreting what he's putting on the screen, and that's one of his main goals.

he seems very interested in exploring themes of "reality" "perception" "fantasy" and "delusion" and him intentionally ****ing with continuity both from episode to episode as well as within a single episode demonstrates he's not interested in a show set in a conventional "reality".

whatever label you want to put on it is inconsequential, and he would prolly think that people who claim to "get his show" more than others are completely missing the point.

Then what's the point of calling it a dream? This is a show that blends reality and the surreal, we get it, if "dream" isn't "it's happening in his head while he sleeps at night" then you're just drawing some arbitrary line in the sand between how much deviation from reality can be "real" versus "dream".

It's a silly thing to even analyze. Whether or not an entire bar full of people was actually intently listening to Todd Barry's story and erupted with applause at the end is just the most OOTVest thing to wonder about.

Madness to suggest this is the best season of Louie. It's good, cos it's Louis, but not up to the standard of previous seasons.

I'll put seasons 1 and 2 ahead of 3 and this one. Season 2 is probably my favorite.

I think what really bothers me about it, on top of all the obvious rapeyness, is the way she gives in to the kiss.

I wish I hadn't snap-deleted the ep from my DVR like I do all shows so I could go back and watch it again, but it seemed like it was portraying her giving in as validation of Louie's argument, that he was right to chase her around his apartment and physically block her from leaving cause his instincts were correct that she did want him to do something about his feelings, and it's just cause she's lolawkward Pamela that the kiss is so awkward. When like, IRL, that acquiescence is actually "I really really don't want to do this but I think I have to if I want to leave this apartment unbeaten and alive". He sexually assaulted her, but that's just a joke because "it would be rape if you weren't so stupid". Ha ha, get it, he's so dumb, so it's not rape!

I'm going to be pretty upset if Pamela Part 2 isn't "the ****ing cops show up and arrest him". That seriously bothered me.

Yeah that was not too good. I actually wondered for a split second was he gonna rape her. Especially when he came up behind her and was grabbing her forcefully.

If I had to write a book report demonstrating my understanding of the subject material I would get an F in the class "Understanding This Season Of Louis"

This season has been horrible. It was an incredible show, now, I don't know if it can recover.

I've loved it throughout. I go into it with no expectations, and have been surprised more often then not. Whatever it might be, it's never not totally interesting.

Doctor is fantastic. His feelings on love and losing it were pretty awesome. Rape stuff was certainly strange.
