He was sitting in the audience the game before and saw Jose wager +1 dollar, so pretty much a zero percent chance of him making some absurd all in wager. But, there's potentially a huge difference between 5k and 7k if you get it right. There was less than a minute on the board, which turned out to be enough time for two questions. If he chose both 2k questions still on the board and got them both, he would have had the lead going into FJ had he wagered 7k. If he wagered 5k (or 6.5k for that matter), he wouldn't have. Even if he only managed to get one of the two remaining questions, that would would have been enough to win on a triple stumper, assuming third place didn't get the other one. With a successful 5k wager, it wouldn't have been, he would have needed to get both questions correct since 14100 was the score needed to cover 9400 without dropping below it on a miss. You just never know when that extra 2k left behind might be the difference between winning and losing, and when it doesn't do you much good to save it, you have to bet it.
