Pretty bad DD wager by the champ at the end of DJ. If you're going to play it safe, shouldn't you be betting between $200-$600? This guarantees first place with a correct answer, while still allowing for a comeback with the remaining $400 clue if incorrect.

And DJ is instantly forgotten with that FJ wager.

Hated all 3 wagers today. Of course, Mrs spartan observes every time I yell "horrible bet" lately, that person wins.

Wow. I know we debate what 3rd should do when 1st and 2nd are so close, and 3rd is way behind, but not out of it. Rational wager by 2nd is very small, but I would have bet the farm that she was going big. In third there I just toss down a big 0, write Suck it Trebek and hope for the triple stumper and two big bets from 1st and 2nd.

Have to think about 2nd for a bit. Can't bet enough to pass 1st and keep 3rd locked out. First thought is to just bet 0 and go for the double miss.

1st is the nut worst. What does 5000 get you? Obv the best is to go big and cover. If you are going small then bet the number that still covers 2nd if 2nd gets cute and bets 599 (assuming 2nd doesnt want to risk the lockout of 3rd). 5000 is just random. She and Derwyn must have talked betting strategy while they were waiting to play.

lol I forgot to use the app will use it tomorrow, but today's game seemed pretty easy.
ran the 50's category and a few others (missed a few of the state capitals) but holy **** that FJ question was absurdly easy.

I mean special Olympic level easy.
and lolololololololol at that FJ wager.

but glad champ lost couldn't take anymore of her conservative DJ wagers.

yeah, i guess after more reading you def do if you want to be technically correct, but idk, i'm not gonna do it. given i will probably never be on the show, i don't care about adding this level of intricacy of having to record 3 answers instead of 2, and having to decide if i'm 'declaring' an answer or not. i'd rather just be able to guess and not stress about it. it probably evens out in the end anyway. coryat is so unscientific in so many ways, that i'm not going to worry about this one facet. i don't care too much what other people are doing, happy to just see how my own scores progress.

anyway, my spreadsheet is here:

http://rapidshare.com/share/1FF5E43E...BF798123AA405F

click 'to download' then click the little down arrow on the right

type in the category names as the round starts, then enter 1 and 0 in the cells for correct/incorrect. it'll auto sum up and it will also turn green/red so you get a nice graphical representation.

rbk - i don't have a mac but there's 'numbers' which does the same as excel, openoffice also i believe. don't know if the conditional formatting will work but the rest should.

here's a pic:

It takes special wagering to correctly answer a daily double as basically the last clue of the round and correctly answer final jeopardy, yet still lose the game.

12k v 11.8k v 5.2k

my quick thoughts without doing any math:

$200 seems good
allin seems better
$201-$600 seems bad

lastly, i felt pretty bad for that guy, correctly going $1600 -> $1200 -> $2000 (absolutely perfect order and something that even brad/ken/roger/arthur seem to screw up repeatedly when hunting (they are most frequently in the $1600 clue and it's not particularly close)) only for it to be in the $800 slot.

Just going for it on the DD seems correct

60% to answer correctly. We still don't have a guaranteed lock.

60%* to maintain the lock

60% x 60% = 36%

40% we lose the lock but we are still a big favorite to still win. Only wrong-right can beat us. Let's say 75%

40% x 75% = 30%

36+30= 66% if we shove the DD

All other options have to be far inferior to 2/3.

*probably 67% to maintain the lockout since the last clue should be a three way coin flip of the buzzer. So 60% is conservative. We should ring in. If we miss we are still in a lock tie scenario. We only lose the lockout if 2nd gets the 400.

Jeez you guys are making everything too complicated. When I'm practicing for an audition or waiting for the call I simply print off a bunch of scoresheets in grid form. A correct answer gets a check mark, a wrong answer gets an X, no guess is left blank, and unrevealed clues get a dash. Simple. If I knew the answer but couldn't spit it out I made a check mark in a different place. Takes 2 seconds to add up the rounds.

And you must count the negs, otherwise you can guess on all 60 clues without fear. Of course that's not going to give an accurate score, it's just cheating yourself.

And yet, your version cannot factor in misses. Mine can.

A) i don't take offense to anything, people that get offended boggle my mind.

B) pretty sure being knowledgeable wrt to which software is compatible with mac or PC has zero correlation with how educated/intelligent you are.
how many nobel prize winners would you estimate don't know **** about excel?

C) did anyone else get trolled today by directv?
i have a season recording for jeopardy and i get home from dodger game fire it up and its ****ing wheel of fortune. wtf. its never done that before.

did it happen to anyone else?

Was tilted at that one woman tonight for answering slow as **** and preventing the last three clues in the J round, was one of my best rounds since I started tracking my scores.

I think the guy that won has potential.

At least it was a simple runaway so no bastardized betting in FJ tonight after two straight days of basically the same scenario and the same suite of mistakes made, with the leader botching the 2x bet for the loss.

Thought from the way the guy looked in the intros that he would be good, and he was though not the best strategically.

not my best game.
there were a few i was pretty sure i knew but doing the score keeper stopped me from just shouting out less i was really confident.

scored 13,800 and missed FJ.

def not one of my better games.
hardly knew any of the "celebrity name changes" and "UN" category.

guy seems like he might be able to make a decent run.

fwiw the score keeper app in app store is really easy to use.
you can easily add correct and subtract for incorrect guesses.

for DD you just score whatever the actual clue value was, and don't think there is a way to do FJ score but w/e.

overall seems like a good way to keep track.

dunno how it relates to "coryat".

She was a weird one. Usually people with those crazy eyes are on the hyper side. Maybe she took an extra klonopin.

I was in the same boat; beat my personal best and would have crushed the rest of the Spanish.

The dude has potential; definitely has an idea of why he's betting what.

After the lady went all in on the DD in DJ (and got the easiest DJ in the 2k slot in history), she let us all down by idiotically moving all in in FJ from second place, and in the process pissed away ~13k.

Btw, is it possible for the show to rig who gets the DDs? Meaning, they can wait until a certain player rings in on a certain clue (depending on how easy they want it to be) and only then make it into a DD.

I was all set to give that woman credit for being smart after going for the true DD, but it turns out she's just an aggro donk instead. Sad. Should have gotten GM anyways, that was an easy one.
