I remember reading that the show wanted to kill Brody off at the end of Season 1 and Showtime wouldn't let them do it. If this is what the show could have become sooner, what a major blunder by Showtime.

Really only hoping that Saul survives. Think he's the only character that makes the show worse if he dies.

I don't think so. It seems there was no intention to kill them. That's why they RPG'd the other two vehicles but not theirs. They just wanted to cause a distraction that would get the Marines out of the embassy to protect Carrie and Saul.

Explosive episode and the ending was fantastic. The Ambassador's husband should be the first to die, he couldn't even lie with a straight face. Two weeks will feel like forever.

So the other 2 cars were blown up but not the one with Saul/Carrie, why?

I guess the phone call was not Mira but was to identify which car was which, but not sure why.

If they destroyed all the cars the Marines wouldn't all be deployed on rescue/protection. Would just be a clean up. Getting the Marines out was the main aim I assume, so they could take the Embassy with minimal resistance.
