Homeland: Season 3 Homeland: Season 3

I'm the opposite of everybody again I guess. Loved every scene that didn't involve Quinn. I just don't buy him at all. He wasn't even in the CIA last season, and he finished last season making a "moral stand" that (in his mind anyway) led to 230 federal agents getting killed. So what's he doing now? Making a bunch more moral stands, playing best friend to Carrie, telling off Saul, and threatening influential international bankers without the blessing of the agency. I mean the entire first season people were always worried that Homeland was going to turn into 24, and they did a great job of staying away from the weak melodrama that show which was that show's weak point, and now? They get their big break with Quinn threatening the life of a legitimate businessman like a homeless man's Jack Bauer. Not digging him at all.

Loved the rest of the episode though. Think the girl who plays Dana is a fantastic actress, and the little teenage love story's sweet. Also like watching her work through her complicated relationship with her father while he's in hiding. Carrie stuff was really good too as was the Saul stuff. Overall quite an entertaining episode even with a couple little missteps that make me nervous about where they're going from here.

I would have to be the most dedicated troll in the world to make up a take opposite of my real take on a show I like and watch every week immediately after watching it. Why can't I just be a fan of Homeland who enjoys following the characters that have been the heart of the show since it started?

I guess I'll watch this now. It's on a short leash!

I almost feel like taking some ****ty show I don't watch and making fake posts that agree with everyone else just so people will stop thinking I'm trolling all the time when I present my views.

It's really unfair how people dismiss your legitimate opinions, iggy. I feel ya bro.

Here's my template post to get 2+2 to like me, what do you guys think?

(Show) was too slow. I really hated how they wasted scenes on (female character). Those scenes were all really dull. They should just cut out (female character) altogether. The only interesting parts of the show are (male character) and (action scene).

That must be why everyone likes The Wire so much even with the slow pacing that people complain about in every other show. No female characters! (At least none of any import with a decent number of scenes.) Megan Draper? Everyone hates her. Dana? Everyone hates her. Daenerys Targaryen? Everyone hates her. Skyler White? Everyone hated her. Pretty sure people would have hated Carmela Soprano back in the day too. Really don't know if 2+2 has ever liked a female character in anything.

Iggy - it's because in our view no rational human being can ever like that Dana stuff, let alone think it was a highlight of the episode. Therefore the only reasonable explanation is that you are trolling.

Anyways, Carrie and the mom are both fine. That's two women from this show alone that are not disliked.

It's like the show thinks it's something it isn't. It works best when it's a thriller with a strong plot and enough character stuff to separate it from 24 etc but the writers seem to think it's a quiet character-driven drama now. I get that they're trying to sell the effects of the end of last season, but it's absurd to have half of this episode basically be a network teen drama and the other half to still feel like it's not going anywhere too interesting.

I still have faith overall that the show will become interesting again, but these episodes are definitely plodding.

EDIT: I will say the actors (including Dana) have been top-notch and it's not like the show is terrible -- it's just been a bit tilting so far because I keep waiting for stuff to happen, which should be soon.

man i'm the complete opposite of a tv nit and this was just garbage

found myself just waiting for it to be over and i can only hope it improves quickly, cause that was easily the worst ep of the series

if iggy likes the dana story or whatever, that's fine, but i don't see how anyone can think this episode was way too focused on largely meaningless side stories and not enough HOMELAND

I don't understand how the writers could possibly think focusing on the family subplot would be satisfying to their viewer base.

I have to admit I somehow liked the Dana stuff, too; she is indeed is a great actress. Yet I don't see how this is going anywhere. She better be joining Al-Qaeda soon.

They should have made Dana more like in the original Israeli version. Then nobody would complain.

It would be too unrealistic to no show Brody's family struggling in a heavy way. Think about what would really happen to a teenage girl if her dad was suddenly the most wanted terrorist alive. To brush over that would be terrible long-term, and while I do think its a bit boring at times, I feel like homeland is doing the right thing for themselves long term. Don't worry you pale faced skinny armed teenagers, im sure there will be plenty of guns and bullets and bombs coming up later in the season, but for now they gotta show the fall out.

Audibly sighing when they cut to a scene featuring brodys family. The rest im enjoying.

As long as Quinn, Cary and Brody dont team up in some sort of rougue force to expose the real truth it could still be pretty good. Especially if the family stuff is toned down.

I've enjoyed it so far. A bit worse than 1 and 2, which is kinda obv since there's no Brody, but it's still a great show to watch and worth the weekly 60 minutes of your time.

hay guize I hate to admit it but I'm with iggy. I think everything is totally fine so far.

Also, people who post "well it isn't what I expected ergo it's turrible" are huge favorites to be absolutely awful human beings. I get that we're in a new TV universe now because breaking bad has made a whole generation of morons believe they're TV critics but let's all just step away from the meth for a bit.

Dana stuff is annoying, but there's a good chance she convinces her dad to turn himself in at some point in the season, or she blows herself up.

Peter Quinn should get a spin off series, and Dana's subplot could be moved to the CW Network.

Dana stuff is bad but I think the Carrie plot right now is just horrible. It's the exact same plot as they had in Season 2 where's she's crazy and going against the CIA where she's right and their wrong. And then she's going to come in and save the day and they'll realize again that she was right all along.

I thought the entire episode was pretty bad. Nothing that I care the least bit about happened.

I liked the scene where Saul scolds the new girl about wearing the headscarf. It really took me by surprise and showed a new side to his character.
