IM surprised it took so long for a thread about this show. Been looking at ads for a month and it looks like it could be sick. Hopefully it doesnt disappoint like so many shows have this year.

Was looking forward to it, but then Sepinwall gave it a C+. Terra Nova got a higher grade than that.

Is Sepinwall worth anything? Giving Terra Nova more then a D is a huge fail imo and makes me think his opinion isnt worth much.

I think knowing what he thought of Walking Dead would prolly help.

Sepinwall is a guy giving his opinion. Critics also, as indicated by their job title, tend to be critical of shows. Esp those that are popularist. He also says that he is going to watch the entire series and while there is little outstandingly great, there is also nothing offensively bad.

But whatever, ill judge it on my own opinion. I tend to not trust critics opinions and dont put much more stock in crowd sourced ratings from a lot of random viewers.

he is alright but there are people on 2p2 that treat him as some kind of TV jesus and just go by whatever he says...he watched the first episode or two of season 2 of TWD and said they were good

Never a fan of westerns before Deadwood, so it's probably unfair to this show that I'm probably only watching it expecting it to be the next Deadwood.

So far 20 minutes in and........not enough Swearengin!

Seriously, Ian McShane should be in this. Ian McShane should be in everything probably though.

I watched all of Deadwood a few months ago, so thats probably why i cant help but see it as a poor clone. But its good enough to watch some more.

Liked the first episode. It set a good tone for things to come.
The scene where the couple gets attacked by the Indians and the woman fights them off, was completely overacted on her part. It made me cringe.

For sure. But I think Sepinwall did nail just how much of a clone it was at various points though. The theme song is similar and the main bad guy acts a lot like Swearengen down to the closing monologue full of bravado yet delivered to no one but the fourth wall. Hopefully it finds its own feet but the comparison is natural and it hasnt shied away from the fact at some point some exec when greenlighting it said "make it as cool as deadwood, i loved deadwood, just dont swear in it". Slitting a guy's throat is fine, calling him a ********** isnt. Lol S&P.
