shes still super sexy here, and even the straight arrow roommate has appeal.

some good lols in the first ep; guy with burning documents in the office, "who wants to get weird and play mario kart?", drunk jeremy, JVB korean commercial was hilarious... all around quality

What's the deal with Two Broke Girls, Best Friends Forever, and now Apartment 23 all having the same premise?

"Stuck-up blonde girl goes through personal crisis (financial, romantic, or both) and shacks up with crazy sarcastic brunette and the two of them become lovable partners navigating this crazy world of dudes and jobs and the big city."

That describes all three shows. I hated the second episodes of 2BG and BFF, so now the only one I'm watching is Apt 23. If the second ep of that one sucks too, then wtf...

2 Broke Girls actually got funny when they added Jennifer Coolidge somewhere midway into the season. After about 4 episodes of her, it really started losing momentum, because they left nowhere for her character to go. It was a mistake to turn her into kind of a featured player.

Also, part of the theme of the 2011-2012 network TV season seems to be similar shows on different networks. It's almost like a show was pitched to one, turned down, and they decide to come up with their own version. ABC and NBC are doing this a lot.

Is that one for each network?

I don't know why I like 2BG's. I liked before Coolidge was added, and after she left (is she actually gone?) It's really not very good but I enjoy it.

BFF is horrible, but I think I might like Apt23 throughout.

I can't figure out why I like 2BGs, either. I just think it works on some kind of elementary level, even though the stars are pretty bad at comedy. I haven't seen the last two episodes, but I think Coolidge is still on it. Her first two episodes were pretty amazing, and she might have gotten Guest EMMY consideration if she hadn't effed it up by staying. Every time she was on screen, it just showed how not ready for primetime the two stars were. She stole every one of the scenes they were all in.

nunnehi, the fact that you are watching shows like these instead of Justified makes me want to jump off a cliff.

LOL, I am going to be watching Justified. I just haven't had time yet. I've been months behind in some of my TV viewing, but I think I should catch up this week. I'm expecting to begin Season 1 of Justified next week.

All those sitcoms you watched that steered me to/away from in the other thread was time that should've been put towards shows like Justified.

I only recently gained the "ability" to watch a lot of TV, so if it was airing in the time where I didn't have that ability, I missed it. Unlike some of those shows that I won't be catching up on, anytime soon, I will be watching Justified, as it should be in the wheelhouse of shows I like.

I'm watching all those others shows for reasons that have nothing to do with whether I really want to watch them. I wouldn't have checked out a lot of them, had it not been for something I'm doing. If I like them (or don't hate them), I stick around. If not, I "change the channel".

I guess since I don't watch any show at it's scheduled time, it's easier to watch a bunch.

Neither do I, but I watch a bunch of different shows.

No clue, but I plan on taking your word for it.

Hasn't the movie industry been doing this forever as well? Seems like often when a movie comes out there is some clone or strongly related (subject materialwise) title from another major studio released as well. I'm specifically thinking of all of the disaster movies coming out at the same time, but there are more recent examples like the two Snow White movies (though they look nothing alike, obviously), or the Friends With Benefits / No Strings Attached (now those look like clones) copies that both came out in 2011.

Isn't that fairly commonplace? Is it new in television?

From a quick google search and memory:

Antz / A Bug's Life
Capote / Infamous
Armageddon / Deep Impact
Friends With Benefits / No Strings Attached
Skyline / Battle:LA
The Truman Show / EdTV
Tombstone / Wyatt Earp
Mission To Mars / Red Planet

All are either clones or strongly thematicly similar. All came out less than a year from each other, often within a matter of months. I'm sure there are a ton more examples.

Not surprised if TV does the same thing.

Good read but it just made long for more Firefly all over again. Angel season six sounds like it would have been interesting as well with the Illyria/Fred identity stuff.

Anyone watch "The Pitch" on AMC? Follows two ad agencies as they pitch new business (Mad Men is the leadin).

The first episode was kind of weak, hopefully it gets better. I've heard they're having a lot of problems finding agencies willing to participate.

I'm expecting good things from the Hatfields and McCoys mini series starting this Monday on The History Channel.

All the previews I've seen look good.

Anyone else watch metalocalypse?

I like the 30minute episodes alot more... I find the 12 minute shows wayyyyyyy too short. But this season so far has still been awesome.
