I thought they left the first season off in a perfect place with so much room to grow. The last episode was probably my favorite of the season. I would assume its basically guaranteed a season 2 already.
It was very good I thought because it was set up right - Nolan to direct and contribute to the storylines on a grand scale as EP and not the nitty gritty writing and left that to the two showrunners and their writing team. And he loves to direct action sequences as we saw what Westworld became really totally from season 3 onwards so this show was perfect for his type of direction.
Also shows a way forward if Nolan wants a 5th season of Westworld to pitch it as I will be director and EP and I will leave the showrunning to Lisa (although hard as she is his wife) or I'll bring in a completely new showrunner.
