I agree. Zombie Gregor has to die somehow, and everyone loves Sandor and wants a redemption story for him. This could end with Sandor somehow confronting his fear of fire to take out Gregor, like trapping himself and Gregor in a room and setting it on fire or something (I'm sure professional writers can think up a more elegant version of that idea, but you get the drift).

If it is an environmental message, then WW must win.

(not personally a hippy fwiw)

This is dumb. The first book was published before global warming was a thing.

I'm guessing it ends in a rather cliche way with the biggest heroes ruling, but he's said it's a "bittersweet ending" so probably something like dany is about to go crazy, everyone united against the ww but not they are back to warring amongst themselves etc.

book Sandor has already had his redemption arc. Him returning to fighting would be a regression to his old self

i dont think there will be a definitive ending. One of the biggest points of this show is that the game never ends. Someone will "win" in the end, but westeros will most likely be a dump once that happens and new players are rising from the chaos.

Show Dany is smart enough to see Tyrion's value which means she's smart enough to win.

I think humans win, but not without many more deaths. I think the name of the last book is something about spring, suggesting some optimism. But GRRM is a twisted cynic, so it's definitely not going to be all puppies and sunshine.

I"m guessing Dany wins Westeros without much of a fight. Everyone is in such bad shape that they are just like OK, be Queen. We're just trying to survive. Jaime takes the Lannisters home. Starks keep North. WW don't make it past the Wall. Nothing has really changed from before Robert's Rebellion, except a whole lot of death.

So people are mentioning a Dany/Jon romantic/marriage pairing. Wouldn't that be incestuous?

A Game of Thrones was published in 1996 and even the Rio Summit was already in 1992. Global warming was "a thing" (so not just a reality, but a concept people talked about) way before that.

That doesn't mean I endorse the WW=CC theory.

It's a Targaryen tradition.

So... they explain why it wouldn't be incestuous in the books? Or they explain why Dany/Jon wouldn't try to combine the south and North? I'm confused

Because Targaryens usually marry brother and sister, so aunt and nephew is no problem.

I don't necessarily think they will marry though.

Yes, but Jon is also a Stark, and they seem to be pretty vehemently against the idea

For the books we'll also have to wait and see how much of the old Jon is left after his resurrection.

In the show I could see them arrange a marriage between the two to unite the kingdoms and face the Others. Sceptical about the book.

I'm sure they're also not fans of being resurrected by the Lord of Light or training to be a Faceless Man, but sometimes you gotta roll with the punches, yo.

Jon and Dany both die fighting off the White Walkers. Or Jon dies, and Dany, after fighting off the WWs, decides she's done with Westeros and flies basck to Mereen on her dragons. "Screw you guys, I'm going home."

that leaves Tyrion and Sansa - already married - as the rulers of Westeros.

Does anyone actually believe GRRM will ever finish the books?

He's 67 years old and wealthy.

He's got plenty of years left if he takes care of himself.

Ideally GRRM would have more protection and health counseling that the president.
