Jon Snow left Winterfell to join the Night's Watch, but he announced that his watch has ended and has embraced his Stark-ness. Sansa wanted to be a sophisticated lady and not a rough Northern woman, but has reclaimed the Stark name. Arya left Westeros to become a Faceless Man, but has determined that she is a Stark rather than No One. Perhaps Bran's future is to reject the path laid out for him by the Three Eyed Raven and be a more interactive member of House Stark.

Yeah, worst of season, nowhere close to worst of series.

Wouldn't dismiss it in the running for the worst... in the long run, hound's little Texas chainsaw sesh and the dude who tried to 1v1 the mountain are basically just gore and pretty much every other arc was botched.

I do definitely see either GRRM or the show writers thinking it would be some appealing tragic symmetry if Jaime ends up having to kill Tommen himself to save Cersei. Brainwashed bad decision Tommen effectively = Mad King #2.
Wait is there anybody in the entire world that doesn't love Cersei at this point?

It feels pretty easily the worst episode ever. The only way you could really dispute it would be to find an episode filled with Dany, comedic Tyrion or Dorne. And honestly even the worst of the worst Dany 'Mheesa', Tyrion with the tribes, or Dorne with the lol fight wasn't as bad as the Arya scenes in this one.

I'm gonna throw a weird one in to the best episode ever theory, S1E1. I can't think of too many opening episodes of a show that have achieved more. Jamie's 'The things we do for love' was incredible.

R.I.P cleganebowl

So I guess they just brought the Hound back because,**** it why not?

I doubt we'll see him again in the books.

The ironborn running from naked Ramsey is the WOAT scene, can't remember what the rest of the episode was like though.

The fooking legend of gin alley at Crasters Keep was terrible as well.

What's so flabbergasting is that the 2-3 scenes from season 1 that they had to make up (Bobby B + Cersei, Jaime + Tywin skinning a deer) were incredible and among the best scenes of the season. Why are all the scenes absolutely laughably awful now?

I think they are incredibly close to arya's final arc and I think she'll either die or just stop being important by the end of WoW. That's the only explanation for all the useless **** we had to endure this season. It's like Theon in the last seasons. They couldn't move his plot forward so we had to watch a lot of pointless torture.

episode is getting too much hate. yes, the Arya stuff was really bad.

but the Sparrows vs Mountain scene was great, the Tommen scene was good, the Hound scenes were great, the Jamie/Brienne scene was great. the Riverrun stuff seems very odd, but I'm assuming there is more to come there with the Tullys and Edmure.

How was the Jaime scene great? He's ****ing ******ed on the show. My favorite character has turned into an one dimensional idiot. His whole speech about cersei being the only thing he still cares about had me facepalming

well, that is a general complaint with show Jamie vs book Jamie (show Jamie doesn't have the same redemption arc), but that difference has been clear for multiple seasons now.

Yeah but someone suggested that brienne would convince him to fight vs ramsay by her side because of his promise and that made me hopeful he'd redeem himself. But nope, he's even worse.

Well...

1) he made a promise but he also wants to get back to Cersei. he can't do both.
2) the compromise he may have struck (Tullys can go north to help Sansa?) might have been a way to accomplish both. need to see how that plays out. Riverun is now in Lannister/Frey hands so all those people the Blackfish was commanding need to go somewhere, presumably. I'm really hoping for something like this, bc otherwise this whole plot line was a bizarre diversion.
3) he accomplished the same thing he did in the books, which was a bloodless transfer of power.

I kind of agree with KBZ, or at least hope he's right. I thought his speech to Edmure might be disingenuous, him just trying to convince Edmure he'll slaughter everyone to accomplish getting the castle to surrender without harming anyone. He didn't promise Cat he wouldn't threaten to take up arms against a Stark or Tully.

What group did Sandor just join? Beric Dondarian and the BWB.
What was Beric Dondarrian and the BWB's original charter? Bring the Mountain Gregor Clegane to justice.

Just sayin'.

(Well actually just copyin', saw it on reddit.)

As far as Westeros knows the Mountain is dead and his head was sent to Dorne.

Beric is dead as well and the BWB's are led by a crazy zombie lady that would demand the Hound to be killed on sight for kidnapping Arya.

The oddest part about the forced but peaceful surrender of the castle had to be the surrendered arms (which they made a point of showing). Now they are just a bunch of guys with no weapons wandering the Riverlands.

I think it's pretty crazy to speculate how the things that transpire this season will relate to what happens in The Winds of Winter. Almost every story line had deviated pretty far from the books before this season had started.

In the books the Gravedigger (Clegane) is not in a hippie commune, rather the very isolated Quiet Isle so it's unlikely that they all get killed by bandits. The Elder Brother talks about how the only thing that had kept The Hound going was his hate for and desire to kill Gregor. I still think Cleganebowl is on the cards for the books.

in the books the Gravedigger also walks around with a limp, he's described as lame, and is struggling to dig a grave. he would get destroyed in a fight. I don't think Cleganebowl is happening in either format.

as others have said, this would really betray the arc GRRM builds for The Hound. The point is that he's learned to abandon his old life and volunteering to fight in a battle to the death would go against that. my guess is GRRM does not revisit The Quiet Isle.

I was kind of hoping that we would get swerved and see a repentant Loras fighting for the Faith against Cersei's champion instead of Cleganebowl, but the ban on trial by combat rules that out. That may just be the troll in me wanting to see some fans whine about Loras repenting.
