I really don't think it'll be hard to avoid spoilers-

I have no idea how BB ends
I have no idea what's happened in down town abbey
I have no idea what's happened in the last season of Sherlock
etc etc.

Then again, I have no friends

I think by the end of the books Arya may end up being my favorite character, if the snippets I've read from Winter are an indication of her character arc.
I remember the first reading for 4 and 5 were hard to get through. Second time around i read the version where the two books were combined, and it was much better.

BB's popularity cant compare to GoT, let alone downtown abbey or sherlock together.

and half of GoT is based on the twists in the story, you WILL get spoiled.

I actually still don't even know how last season ended, like I know what happens in the story because I've read it in the books, but I don't know how the Shae killing happens, etc.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah I actually kept track of if I would have been spoiled on various events last season. I wouldn't have been spoiled on the purple wedding or Tywin dying or anything really. Seems like I'll be OK.

And breaking bad is of similar popularity to GoT. BB finale had like ten million viewers

Is this common knowledge?

"Yes, Robb was a warg, although perhaps not as powerful as his siblings. GRRM has said that all six kids are wargs. When Robb dies, he says his wolf's name, suggesting, based on Varamyr's ADWD prologue, that he entered Grey Wind when he died (and he may have died twice, once as Grey Wind and once as Robb).

If you want in-story evidence, look at the goat path that Robb somehow discovered that let him make progress in the Westerlands without the Lannisters knowing. The theory is that Grey Wind discovered the path and Robb saw that it was there in a wolf dream (and if I recall in the books, the wolf does get credit)."

I feel bad for not "getting" so many finer details in the books

I remember the wolf getting credit for finding the trail. Not sure about wargs but seems like everyone but Sansa at least gets dreams.

I'm too lazy to find but studies have been done on this and the results showed that being spoiled before you start has no impact and can actually lead to more enjoyment. However, being spoiled midway through seemed to piss people off big time.

Halfway through the 5th book. Kinda don't like Tyrion anymore.

Is the show gonna go to Dorne or just skip that all-together? Presumably the Iron Islands are getting totally skipped (Balon Greyjoy never even died in the show).

Looks like most of the Iron Island stuff is getting skipped, but there will be lots of Dorne stuff in S5.

One of the top links on /r/asoiaf right now is this theory

Quote:
The halfman is the Stallion who Mounts the World. Mirri Maz Duur created a rift in spacetime to do a fetus-swap, making Rhaego and Tyrion the same person, and creating a prophecy where he becomes destined to marry Dany, his mother.

Def agree with those who think spoiling just isn't that big of a deal in general, although series/ book finale stuff is a bit different I suppose. Whatever, regardless of whether the show completely spoils the books or not I will enjoy thoroughly all of my hours spent on the show and the books.

Kneed, I have been following this thread for a long time and I guess I do remember you trashing the show here and there, but remind me, why do you hate the show so much? Being on team Books I definitely understand some gripes, but I can't think of anything the showrunners have done that would/should bring on such passionate hate from a person who presumably likes the books.

I was just completely baffled by how rapey they made last season, why add in whole novel incest rape village storylines? We needed to see that why? And sure, throw in Jaimie straight up raping his sister, why not? It's like they have no idea what Jaime's character arc is. And jesus it was slow this last two seasons. I've said all along that spending 20 hours on the third book is just madness. And the action scenes have been pretty consistently bad, like wtf was with the Viper's rhythmic gymnastics routine when he was "fighting" the Mountain? lol?

I just didn't enjoy it much at all. I basically only watched it to get ready for that week's Gay of Thrones episode.
