I'm hoping like mad for late 2015. If a quarter of it's finished (completely edited) then it's likely somewhere around a half is actually written.

what are the odds the last book will be underwhelming?

If he had most main storylines figured out way in advance it would be so amazingly good.

everybody should get an amazing/disturbing/satisfying ending. Who dies, who lives, which side wins, what happens and why... and most importantly how....

The impact of events in the last book could be like 10 red weddings in a row if done properly

one can dream I guess

The thing about being 1/4 done, he had a bunch of chapters done which didnt make it into Dragons due to plotting flow including the two big battles at Winterfell and Meereen's harbour.

Summer 2015 is my hope for Winds of Winter but I think summer 2016 is more realistic. Or 2018.

You guys are depressing the hell out of me.

I have to say im incredibly excited for these last two. Seems like everything is set up and even with the last two books being gigantic they should be action packed and move the plot forward very quickly.

The HBO series lasting until the end of the books is a massive dog. That's ten more years of writing at this pace

So do we expect anything major to happen tonight? Pretty sure Jamie's hand will be the first "major" plot point we see [unless I'm forgetting something real obvious], but I'm not sure it will be this soon?

Eitherway, we excited.
04-07-2013 , 07:43 PM
Queen of thorns should be introduced tonight
04-07-2013 , 07:45 PM
That would be something real obvious I'm forgetting. LOL was even in the previews. They have so much **** to get through in nine more episodes it feels like.
04-07-2013 , 08:04 PM
Surely karstark dies soon. Having that happen right before red wedding would be awful.

Really curious to see how that gets resolved in the show.
04-07-2013 , 08:46 PM
so with all these theories it seems pretty likely that tyrion is a targ...

that would make him a half man and a half dragon

Why wouldn't Brienne and Jamie be able to fight off the Boltons at the end. Was like 12 on horseback but they were on a bridge and close enough to take out the first rank.

Speculation with casting info.

Spoiler:
I assume the person "helping" Theon is Ramsay since there was someone cast as "boy" who is thought to be Ramsay. Actor from the show Misfits. Might end up hunting Theon.

What else. North of the wall scenes were all whatever. Mance still miscast and Tormund hasn't said har or mentioned his member. Also Ygritte didn't take her clothes off.

Arya is so much less badass than in the books. Reading other thread and people don't seem to realize BWB is allied with King Robert. Not sure why they removed that detail. Thoros had a chance to say it. Don't they test screen these things.

All Bran scenes were top notch.

This may be my least favourite ep, so far.

I thought the tyrion/shae scene was awful. Not sure about the Cat/Robb's wife scene. I don't really see the point.

+1, the reeds were great (although, that wasn't how I pictured Jojen).

I still enjoyed it, though.

I'm just being paranoid, but I swear... book readers everywhere.
04-07-2013 , 10:47 PM
If you're referring to Wheatsauce I got that vibe too shrug. Could def be subconscious paranoia tho.

I think this is my least favorite episode so far of the series. Way too much exposition, but some of it is very confusing for non book readers. I thought the Bran/Meera introduction was incredibly hamhanded and the scene of them walking afterwards was prob the worst scene the series has ever had.

That said, a few scenes were really good. I'm not sure how I feel about the additional Catelyn exposition re: Jon Snow unless they use it with her saying hell naw to him as heir later on. But the scene was excellently done and a standout of the episode. The Brienne/Jaime fight I guess was done as best as they could do for TV but it's unfortunate you don't really get a reason for why he's losing when he's supposed to be such a badass. But I think part of that is because they've shown so little fighting you don't really get a sense of how much being manacled would affect him.

I dislike all Catelyn scenes. Can't wait for her to be killed.

Isn't the Bran/Jojen exchange pretty much a summary of their interactions in the second book.
04-07-2013 , 10:56 PM
Pretty small summary. They're supposed to be really old family friends, hard to get that vibe.
04-07-2013 , 11:11 PM
so the "character destruction" of cat WAS her talking nicely about jon.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm really hating this season. I really can't stop comparing it to the books and thinking everything i'm watching is ridiculous. Maybe I should have read the books after season 3, or after the show was over, don't know.

Really liked the dialogue between jaime and brienne tho, specially the part where he says "we don't get to choose who we love". kinda obvious that I liked it since it's from the books, I think. Wish jaime had hurt brienne like in the books, tho. brienne just owned him on that fight.

Also liked how they introduced theon's arc. looks like they will use that story about ramsay helping the girl escape just to hunt her, great.

Queen of thorns was nice, even though I missed the singer making their conversation impossible to hear by the little birds.

Hated almost everything else.
Bran is the three eyed crow? WTF?

And the biggest change in this episode, imo, was that jojen said he'd seen the rebellion, so we'll probably know about lyanna/jon's heritage through him, not his father.

and that's probably the last time he's going to fight with a sword in his right hand... such a letdown.
