Theres just some things they have to dumb down and simplify for TV purposes. We just have to accept it.

I've said it before in the Season 4 thread in response to something obviously incorrect that traz said, but it bears repeating. Although the low IQ of the viewer is a factor, you also have to take into account the fact that not everyone watches TV without something else going on (aka, the right way).

Facebook, surfing 2p2, talking on the phone, email, fixing a snack, playing with kids, talking to your wife, etc etc. The TV show is basically background noise at this point.

For PJ to misremember such an obvious clear-cut event, one of two things is true: either he's a huge idiot/blind and is having the show's actions read to him, or he was distracted by something else while "watching". I'm betting on the latter in this instance, but hopefully you see what I'm getting at.

A big problem in these threads is when the "kinda watching but doing something else too but I got an eye on the TV I swear!" types start posting their arguments as gospel. What they missed, their brain fills in with things that didnt actually happen, and from that shaky foundation they form incorrect theories/arguments etc about the show that they're willing to argue in defense of till their face turns blue.

Yep it sure sucks when some guy goes around talking like he knows everything

I agree with all the hate for some of the ridiculousness, but I'll keep watching obv. Shawn Hatosy rules.

I really hope the kids are gone. Forever. I hope that the story wasn't supposed to have them leave, but they saw how bad at acting they were, and had to write them off the show.
this, well except I've never said/thought I won't enjoy this season. 1st episode seemed a bit off and this episode was actually bad, imo. I don't have an issue with slow episodes, either.

The close-ups of the blood, kids' acting, dexter following and a few other things were all off and/or bad. I wasn't even that impressed with MCH's acting in this one, but may have just been dialogue or something.

Hopefully, it's just a couple of rough episodes and we'll be back on track. Quinn being on to Dexter and new serial killer are good story lines so I'm optimistic.

When he wasnt actually paying attention to the show he was "watching"-- yes.

Good episode -- probably the best of the season so far (though that isn't saying much).

I'm not sure where the beheading case is going, nor what the deal is with the Latina uniform cop, but I'll give it time.

Something's up with the nanny -- is it just me, or is it clear she isn't all she's cracked up to be?

Loved the little exchange on the table:

"I knew you were f*cked up the minute I laid eyes on you."
"I was f*cked up long before that."

I wonder if Laguerta and Angel have ever ridden an elevator without Masuka.

also, hot new cop is new and hot

I definitely thought this episode was the best so far, but it was a little short, no?

Did anyone notice when Deb kisses Dexter goodbye that the kiss on the cheek seemed fake? Maybe they just forgot to add a sound effect. It seemed pretty lol for her to fake it since they are married irl.

Dexter really seems to be unraveling a bit. My brother and I believe this will be the last season. Is there any reason to believe otherwise?

He is taking way too many risks. Riding around in the car of the person he is going to kill? Dexter doesn't do that stuff. It will either be the final season, or the beginning of the end for the show.

freaking good episode was on the edge of my seat for most of the time

Saw the tranquilizer shot in the previews for this episode but didn't think THAT would happen. Definitely explains why we never saw Julia in any of the previews for this season. Very good ep.

I think it started at 9:01, "Last time on Dexter..." was almost 2 minutes and the ending titles started at 9:49. WTF is that?

They really do need to stop with the "Last time...." though. No one will be tuning in for the first time. Are they really running out of material that fast?

Interesting. I thought this was going to be an "open-and-shut kill" for Dexter, albeit with a slight twist where he almost gets caught, but apparently the writers saw fit to explode the story into a bunch of tiny threads. Namely:

What did Boyd mean by "he was ending their [the blonde girls] suffering"?

What is, in fact, the importance of their blondeness and how did the "Take It" tape motivate Boyd?

Why was Boyd so reticent about how he ended up being knocked out?

Who's the girl and how did she get caught?

Spoiler:
At the end of the previews it looks as if she actually runs across the Mitchell family driving after the son's just identified Dexter as "Kyle Butler". What the **** is going to happen then, what a mind blowing story development.

I laughed pretty hard at the "polishing his lance" bit, I think because of how quickly LaGuerta got it. And, since it was commented on during the show, I also briefly wondered how good her actresses head game really would be...

ya.. we dont all watch the previews

LOL? He rode shotty with Trinity many, many times last season. He's been seen with his victims plenty of times, he usually just makes sure its in "one-off" settings.

About the preview

Spoiler:
The son never ID'ed Kyle Butler, Quinn just showed him a picture of Dexter and asked if that was Kyle Butler. The car that the kidnapped chick ran into was just some random teens.

odds that dexter kills quinn this season? pretty high imo

my takes...

Based on his love for the 'take it' tapes he clearly had major esteem issues, so I think he was implying he was killing girls who didn't 'take it' i.e. live life to the fullest blah blah

Why was Boyd so reticent about how he ended up being knocked out?

It was clear he knew what Dexter had done and he had his own plans for him

The preview just showed Quinn asking if Dexter was Kyle Butler, my guess is Dexter gets to the family to explain his false identity first to protect himself, which the family will comply since he saved them from Trinity
