He clobbered How I Met Your Mother weekly for a year and a half before it finally strung together a few decent eps in November. He's also been hating on Dexter a bit.

But I agree with the others that he's fairly forgiving. Especially on The Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire.

If you listen to his podcast (which you should) I think he's a bit more negative on there.

But- I would agree that he is a pretty forgiving reviewer in general and would still remind people that he watches Grey's Anatomy and likes it.

He's also not been a fan of The Office as of late and was going to stop reviewing it until this past Thursdays.

He was harsh on 30 Rock last season as well. Sometimes with dramas he stays away from value judgements and just gives analysis, which makes it seem like he is fawning over the shows.

lol I doubt it's possible to overstate how bad 30 Rock was last year.

The guy who reviews Community for The Onion's AV Club declares every episode his favourite yet - I don't think he's given out a grade less than B+ so far. Still well worth reading, though.

Community's The #1 TV Show in 2010 according to a New York magazine writer. So at least yay for that.

Spoiler picture of the upcoming episode in the review, btw, if you don't want to see.

Also I have never seen it, but I'm 100% confident saying that there is no ****ing way The Good Wife was better than Treme.

BTW I just realized I forgot about the whole Shirley-having-Chang's-baby subplot, which they've kind of ignored for two weeks. Though if you noticed Shirley only wanted to have non-alcoholic drinks on Troy's b-day (and prob not because she's Christian, but because you can't drink while pregnant).

Wonder if she'll start "showing" at some point. (Hard to tell when fat people start showing but whatevs).

My mom loves The Good Wife, so I guess it's nailing its target demographic and doing something right, but then she watches every big-name long-running hour-long network drama (Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice, ER back when it was running, etc.). Never seen an episode of it myself.

The only two shows on that list I watch regularly are Treme and Community, and I put Treme way ahead (but probably because I live in New Orleans and am completely biased). Seen a few episodes each of In Treatment and Boardwalk Empire and prefer the latter. Need to find out when HBO is going to run a marathon of it so I can DVR all the episodes and catch up.

Ya VanDerWerff loves Community, but I think some of that stems from the fact that he watches like every show on TV. If you watched 2 1/2 Men weekly you would suddenly find ****** episodes of Community much better. Also I am pretty sure he grew up in a very religious house, so I think a lot of the sappy wackiness is really endearing to him.

What's the general consensus on American Dad? I wasn't a big fan at the beginning, so I haven't seen it since the first 3 or 4 episodes.

American Dad has a really strong absurdist streak and is easily the best plotted Seth MacFarlane show. It is hit or miss, but usually has a couple great episodes every season.

Yeah. I would say I like most of the episodes. It's by far the best of the current Sunday night Fox shows.

American Dad is the best comedy Fox has. Roger is the funniest character on tv. people write it off bc Family Guy hasnt been great in years, and they watched the pilot of American Dad and didnt like it. its almost always great. its been the best show on Fox Sunday 90% of the weeks they've aired them all

Roger's the alien, right?

I hate to stereotype a character from a show that people apparently like, but has he moved on at all from just "alien Paul Lynde"?

Not exactly hard to be the best comedy Fox has right now.
