Great ep, Ted scene was great I think I like him being alive even though it was really heavily implied he was dead.

About the preview:

Spoiler:
Does Hank have a major realisation at the end ?

accusing this show of fan service seems extreme. the season began with high tension but that's imo where it should begin given the end of the previous one.

______________

Ted being alive obviously is going to come back to bite Walt/Skyler. 0% chance of Ted being alive just so Ted can be alive, it has to serve as some sort of plot purpose.
"Were Walt and Jesse under surveillance at the parking garage?" is one of those questions that could easily go either way. That shot very well could have been put in there as a "trap door" as Sepinwall calls them, whereby it could be revisited if the writers decide to go that direction, or never addressed since there was no definitive evidence (imo) that they were being watched.

The "because I said so line" for some reason I read Jesse's look as "damn he's the Gus now".

I don't think Gus would ever say that, although him killing Victor can be interpreted as an 'Because I said so' even though he says nothing there. Regardless, Gus was remote and terrifying, but Walt is panicky in a way that Gus never was and never would have been. Jesse's recognizing how unstable Walt is - that he thinks he's bulletproof means he very much isn't.

i see a future mythbusters episode

Yeah I realized how wrong I was when reading the posts back and thinking more about it. Well said.

So much stuff in BB for mythbusters. Would love to see homemade car battery, and electromagnet in uhaul with 40 car batteries erasing a computer through a concrete wall would be GOAT mythbusters episode.

opening teaser scene was intriguing, but we probably won't get answers to any of the questions it raises before the end of the half season.

it was just a caper episode, but if they didn't address it, everyone would be like:

What about the cameras in the lab and gus' laptop? So they had have the boys take care of it.

Pls explain.

Also, the police had the laptop in their possession for what, 48 hours? How long is a reasonable time to crack a very high priority laptop for info?
07-16-2012 , 12:08 PM
At the same time, I can also see Walt/Jesse/Mike thinking that they need to nuke the laptop just to be safe.

The part I find more suspect is that Gus would record any of it at all on anything other than a temporary basis. Seems like between him and Mike, one of the two of them might note that's a terrible idea.

Whatever though- even as somebody who will admit to enjoying picking at nits, this doesn't bother me that much.

Would've been really entertaining to watch DEA (actually they would've send it to FBI for decryption) trying to decrypt AES-256 for the rest of the series...

Doesn't really matter how big of a priority the laptop is. If it is encrypted using AES it would take many years to "crack it".
07-16-2012 , 12:20 PM
Everyone worrying about encryption and all are missing the point they need to suspend disbelief and realize the episode's main plot purpose was to unite Mike, Jesse, and Walt.
07-16-2012 , 12:22 PM
They wouldn't even try to actually crack the encryption, they would do a dictionary attack on the password. If Gus was good about picking his password that wouldn't work. Brute forcing the encryption would take the NSA like hundreds of years with current computer resources.

Yeah I didn't mean it as a criticism of the episode at all. It was a criticism of how big a ****ing dork I am.
07-16-2012 , 12:26 PM
So are they going to start cooking again at some point or will the season just focus on avoiding the law and avoiding being caught for their previous escapades?

Also, it looked like Walt was given the keys to the Volvo with the big gun in it. Did the guy who sold him the gun put the NH plates on there for him? I guess we won't know at this point.

I also thought it was funny that the car was a Volvo, just like Gus.
07-16-2012 , 12:34 PM
Walt was given the keys to the other car, which had the M60 in it. He took his duffle bag from the NH plates car.

Re: the timeline

The show started on Walt's 50th birthday. You people are often unbelievable spoiler nits, but
Spoiler:

The 4th episode of this season is titled "Fifty One", possibly a reference to Walt's 51st birthday

I bet my money on product placement there.
07-16-2012 , 12:38 PM
I also think it was quite obvious Walt wanted the waitress to remember him. Saying he drove there from NH. Leaving the car with the NH plates behind. The big tip, etc.

Mike is awesome.

Am I the only one thinks this ends with Walt going to prison?

Only after committing one big heroic act. Otherwise, he's a dead man.

I have no basis for that whatsoever.

There's a very good chance he doesn't die or end up in prison, but ends up in a horrible, horrible place. The Denny's scene makes it seem like he's already halfway there.
